Plain Talk from the Risen Lord

Jesus does not leave His faithful people comfortless when He departs from them. As the Easter season continues, the promises of Jesus become sources of affirmation and hope for the disciples. Jesus is in charge of all facets of earthly life and has decided how best to continue His mission on earth. His plan is direct and positive, although sometimes our comprehension of what He has in mind is incomplete. In today’s Gospel, we hear Jesus speaking plainly to the disciples and to us. His exclamation “I have overcome the world” is a source of limitless hope for us.
