Clifton Hills Elementary School

Welcome to the Clifton Hills Elementary School Library! I have been planning all summer for the grand re-opening of the Library. Your library has some amazing books and resources just waiting to be checked out. We'll be learning how to locate and access information, how to use information, and how to share what we are learning with others. You can access our library collection online from any computer or device with internet access:

Mrs. Kapp

Mrs. Kapp is a certified school librarian with a Master's Degree in Information Sciences from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She has been with Hamilton County Schools for 5 years. She currently serves as the Membership Chair and the East Tennessee River Region Representative for the Tennessee Association of School Librarians. She lives on the Southside of Chattanooga with her husband, Duane, and 3 children-Nathanael, Joshua, and Rachel.

Curriculum Corner

The library curriculum introduces students in Kindergarten through second grade to the basics of library organization and seeks to broaden literary appreciation by introducing students to a variety of authors and books. Students in third through fifth grade focus on learning the basics of research using the Big6 Model. The Big6 Model is an inquiry based model that focuses on critical thinking as well as finding and using information to meet information needs. Each month we will explore one step of the Big6 Model. Library lessons will relate to topics being discussed in the classroom. Students will be assessed in a variety of ways. Please encourage your students to actively participate in library lessons. A detailed curriculum map is available upon request.
