Weekly Update

June 8-11

We have missed seeing our students

We are upon the final days of the school year. Typically, these last few weeks of school would have been filled with PE activities outside on the lawns, projects coming to culmination, field trips, and concerts. This has been a unique school year that we are not likely to forget. We have missed seeing your kids and have appreciated your partnership through the past few months. We hope your family is able to find time this summer to relax and enjoy each other. We appreciate you and the hardwork you have put in this year to support your students emotional, mental, and academic well-being. Thank you from all of us at Elton Gregory and we will see you in the fall. For our 8th graders who will be transitioning to high school, we have been honored to work with you, learn with you, and watch you grow. We wish you nothing but the best in high school.

Last Week of School

Thursday June 11th is the official last day of school for students. Since Thursday is the last day of school all assignments must be completed and turned in by that day. You and your student will notice that there is no new instruction posted on learning plans this week. The goal for these last few days of school is for students to connect with their teachers regarding missing or late assignments. Please encourage your student to check StudentVue to make sure that they are earning a Pass in each of their classes. Students can email teachers directly from StudentVue if they have questions.

Grades and Report Cards

Due to the school closure, the Oregon Department of Education guidelines require schools to issue end-of-year report cards that use PASS/INCOMPLETE for final grades. Grades will be greatly modified to better reflect our school closure and distance learning models with a strong emphasis on connection, effort, and engagement rather than focusing solely on academic performance.

End-of-year report cards will be posted digitally and accessible to parents through our Synergy ParentVue portal on June 17th.

If you do not currently have access to ParentVue, please contact our school secretary via the following emai egms-info@redmondschools.org to request an individualized access code.

Chromebooks and Hotspots

All chromebooks and hotspots that were checked out to students from Redmond School District may be kept over the summer. If you will not be returning to Redmond School District in the fall or you would like to return your devices for the summer, Troy Capps our Dean of Students, will be at Elton Gregory Monday June 8th from 3-6pm to check in any returned devices. Please come to the front of the school to return devices. If you have questions regarding devices please email Troy Capps at troy.capps@redmondschools.org

Instrument Return -- Message for all Band Students with School Rentals

Mrs. Withers will be at Elton Gregory on Monday June 8th from 3-6pm collecting all school rented instruments. If you have a school rental it needs to be returned at this time.

Please come to the front of the school, use the pull through and stop at the sign for instrument return. Wait until it is your turn to exit your car with your instrument and set it on the table outside the band room door. Mrs. Withers will check off that you have returned your instrument.

We appreciate you taking time to return your instrument so we can provide any necessary repairs to instruments over the summer so they are ready for the upcoming school year.

If you have questions about instrument drop-off please email Mrs. Withers at renee.withers@redmondschools.org

Updates throughout the Summer

As Redmond School District receives updates from the State of Oregon and Oregon Department of Education about how we will return to school in the fall, we will send out information to all families in the district. You may also see surveys from the district shared through email. As we receive information from the state about next year, we would like your feedback to help us plan for the upcoming school year. Please take a moment to complete theses surveys. Your perspective will help us greatly. Please be on the lookout for this communication.
