Week of May 10, 2021
Week of May 10th- 14th, 2021
First and foremost, I'd like to wish all of our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and those with mothering roles a very blessed and happy Mother's Day. May your day today be full of love and joy.
There is no school this Friday, May 14th - it's a planning day for teachers.
Our students in K-8 are taking the iReady diagnostic test this week. This is the only standardized test information we will have for students this year. Our e-learners will complete their diagnostics on Zoom as teachers proctor the tests. Please do not help your child with their test. We use the information to inform our curriculum and learning plans for the students. We are seeking the most accurate picture of each child's progress.
Registration still remains at the top of the list. As we return to full in-person instruction for the 2021-2022 school year, seats are limited. At this point, no deposit is needed to get your child's seat reserved; we will add it to the contract for later payment The first step will be to complete the registration Google form. Please click the link here.
Registered students for the 21-22 school year may dress down Thursday, May 14th, and then each Friday as we finish the year. We are also doing one more drawing on 5/14 on Facebook for $50 gift cards! Get your name in the hat!
After families complete the Google registration form, the packet with more extensive paperwork will be emailed out. Please return those as soon as possible. Contracts will follow. Thanks for your patience as we get those prepared.
Registration is open to new families, too. Do you know a new family, especially a preschool or kindergarten family? You will receive a $300 referral credit for any new family that registers! We are looking to enroll new preschoolers and kindergarteners for next year! Do you know anyone with 3, 4, or 5-year-olds? You could receive a special referral credit resulting in not having to do any PAWS for the 21-22 school year (carryover PAWS not included)! Let us know.
Spring is here along with unsettled weather. Please remember that students do need to be in uniform and following the dress code in relation to shoes, hair, and fingernails. Please refer to your family handbook linked here. See pages 24 and 25.
On May 11th between 1 pm - 3 pm, we have a fresh produce pantry at school! Please spread the word and pick up some for your family! We would like to be able to serve the greater community with this project! See the flyer below for the summer dates!
On May 11th, Mr. Shaka Rawls, the principal of Leo High School will be meeting virtually with our 6th and 7th boys and their families at 5 pm. Please hold the date! There will be prizes while families learn more about why Leo High School is a terrific choice!
Our Family Virtual Title I night is date has changed. This fun family night is now scheduled for May 12th at 5:30. The items are a bit late arriving! E-learners were notified when to come to pick up their kits! This is a free event for families of K-8 students. Registered students and their families will receive 1 kit per child (grade appropriate) with many different activities. We will unbox the great activities with you and send you off to work with your families! Here is the link to join the event: Join Zoom Meeting

Faculty & Staff Appreciation Week - Recap
Our faculty and staff are second to none! We are blessed!
The following days are #BEKIND shirt days:
June 2 is the last big #BEKIND party.
Please wear any school kind shirt with their uniform bottoms or jeans - no leggings. If your child needs a new #BEKIND shirt, they're available in the office for $10.
As a reminder, all students should wear gym shoes daily to school. Scandals are not allowed as they aren't safe for playing!
While we know that these are very challenging times, the financial health of the school is important to its longevity. We thank all of you for your prompt payments.
All past due balances should be cleared by now. Students will be excluded from school, as of May 13th. If you are not sure of your balance and can't access your FACTS account, please contact the office on Monday.
