Scholastic Reading Counts

I am excited to finally introduce you to a new program our school has purchased this year. It is called Scholastic Reading Counts. It's a simple reading program that allows students to take a short quiz after reading a book. Many book titles are available, but I will say that it is sometimes difficult to find a book because Scholastic hasn't perfected their listings. I try the author first and then a title search. I've introduced this program as a whole class and have been trying to get small groups to take a quiz for practice. This program probably requires some adult help to find the book and to read some of the questions. It is totally optional, but it is a great motivator and will help you assess whether or not your child is really comprehending what he or she is reading. I will be using it some in small reading groups at school as well. Please feel free to check it out online by clicking on the link below or download the free app called Scholastic Reading Counts.
