After sacrificing an hour in the spring, it is once again that time of year for us to reclaim that hour back. Daylight saving time will conclude this Sunday, Nov 7th. Don't forget to set your clocks back one hour.
Not only does "fall back" November bring us a time change, but it also ushers in basketball season. Consider spending an evening with us this fall at one of our home basketball games. Our season openers start next week with our 7th grade girls taking on Lange at 6:00 pm on Monday, 11/8 followed by our 8th grade boys taking on Lange at 6:00 pm on 11/9. Enjoy your weekend AND the additional hour of sleep!

Free COVID-19 Vaccine To Be Offered at Gentry- December 3
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of children in Boone County ages 5-17 have become sick with the virus that causes COVID-19, some even requiring hospitalization. Getting your child vaccinated against COVID-19 is the best way to protect them from this potentially serious virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices recommends that all people 5 years and older get a COVID-19 vaccine.
Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services is offering the free COVID-19 vaccine at Boone County schools. The COVID-19 vaccine will be available for all children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Our vaccine clinic will be held at Gentry on Friday, December 3. If you decide not to vaccinate, or if you do not return the required permission form (link below) to the school, the free COVID-19 vaccine will NOT be given to your child at school. The opportunity to get your child vaccinated is encouraged but not mandatory. This vaccine is free.
If you have questions about the vaccine clinic, please contact the GMS school nurse (Jennifer Ferguson at 214-3246). If you have specific questions about the COVID-19 vaccine you may reach Columbia/Boone County Public Health and Human Services at covidvaccine@como.gov. Children who do not get the vaccine at school may receive free COVID-19 vaccines at one of the many vaccinators in Boone County found at www.como.gov/covidvaccine.
Sincerely,
Stephanie K. Browning, Director

Gentry Read-a-Thon
Gentry Middle School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year! Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more. Our Read-a-thon starts Monday November 22, 2021.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills. We hope EVERYONE participates.
