Make-Up Days
At this time, it is unclear whether the state will require us to make up the lost instructional time that comes with the second week of closure, but we are closely monitoring the situation and we will communicate further with staff as we learn more.
We need all employees to understand that this situation continues to be very fluid and these plans may change further before they are implemented. Please continue to monitor your District e-mail, the District’s website, and District’s social media channels for updates. We will continue to provide updates to all employees as we learn more.

Dual Enrollment
Withdrawal Deadline for Term A and B
The withdrawal deadline for Term A and B has been extended to April 10th. With PHSC closed, we are moving to implementing an online withdrawal process as follows:
- Student Initiated Withdrawal/Audit Form (SCN-03) has been converted to a writable pdf document (attached) and is located on the advising webpage (https://advising.phsc.edu/services/registration/audit-withdraw)
- Student will submit the completed signed SCN-03 Form to advising via the e-advising email address (eadvising.phsc.edu)
- Advisor will contact faculty for last day of attendance
- Advisor sends an email confirmation to the student to advise that the withdrawal request has been processed.
An email from the counselor or administrator can serve as the approval.
Tutoring
Please see the attached documents related to Smartthinking which provides online tutoring and essay critiques for DE students. Please share this information with your DE students.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to Tonia Shook with any questions.
Tutoring Information - if parents reach out to you, please know the contract language!
Because parents are concerned about their children’s learning while at home, they may feel tempted to solicit tutoring from their child’s teachers, so the District provided this language to share with our teachers.
Class of 2020 Senior Information
Top 10% Breakfast originally scheduled for 4/8/20 will be postponed to a date TBD.
Grad Bash scheduled for 4/17/20, has been rescheduled for 4/24/20.
Graduation is still scheduled for original date and time.
**Please keep an eye out for further updates.
SEL Virtual Connection
Included here is an SEL Slide Deck with a number of welcoming routines and optimistic closing prompts that can support you and your team as you host a variety of virtual meetings, trainings and connections. Now, more than ever, is the time for us to pay lean into the routines that we know benefit the Social Emotional needs of all members of our system.
Testing
All standardized testing including FSA/NGSSS and end of year District Finals have been cancelled by FLDOE. The SAT School Day for Juniors originally scheduled for March 25th has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
- Current seniors: If a senior is expected to graduate in spring 2020 and has not met the exit criteria for Algebra I EOC and/or Grade 10 ELA FSA, or earned a concordant score, this criteria will be waived. However, students still must earn the necessary credits and meet the GPA requirements to graduate.
- Non-seniors: The Department is waiving the requirement for non-senior students who are currently enrolled in a course that requires an EOC to take the associated EOC. However, non-seniors who have yet to pass the Grade 10 FSA ELA must still meet the exit criteria by passing that assessment during a future administration or earning a concordant score. Though non-senior students enrolled in the EOC course of Algebra 1 are not required to take the Algebra 1 EOC, they must still meet the mathematics assessment graduation requirement by either passing the Algebra 1 EOC (offered four times each year) during a future administration, earning a concordant score, or passing the Geometry EOC during a future administration.
- 30% for final grade: For students currently enrolled in courses that include a statewide EOC to be factored into the student’s grade, this requirement will be waived. Districts have the discretion to determine whether district-developed EOC assessments are necessary for these courses for the 2019-2020 school year and as a District, we have cancelled District Finals as well as State testing for the Spring 2020.
