What's Up This Week-- April 11-15
Math: We will continue to discuss customary measurement. Students should have a half sheet of paper that has all of the customary units on them. Quickly ask them some of those, for example 1 foot quals how many inches or 1 gallon equals how many pints. Also have your child tell you about the land of King Gallon and have them draw it for you to illustrate the relationships with the units gallon, quart, pint, and cup. At the end of this week we will shift our focus to the metric system.
Literacy: We talked about the differences between dramas and poetry. Students will finish writing their own plays next week and during whole group we will learn about different types of figurative language such as, smilies, metaphors, idioms, onomatopoeia, adages, and personification. We will look for these types of figurative language in poetry.
Social Studies: Students have been working very hard in media to complete research on important places and sites in the different regions of NC. In class, students will learn how to use google maps, and they will be planning a "family vacation" to the places that they have been researching and map their route using google maps.
Student Teacher Appreciation
