Let's Finish Strong!
I cannot believe we have only 18 days remaining this 2022-2023 school year. What a wonderful year we have had!
Congratulations to all of our Read, Deed, Run students and thank you for coming out to our Rise of RAE Carnival.
We will be posting pics on Facebook and Twitter soon so please keep an eye out.
As you can see below, our character trait for May is Cooperation. We really depend on the cooperation of many stakeholders to continue to do our best as we finish the year. Please remember that our target time is 7:45AM. You can arrive as early as 7:25AM. We appreciate you helping us start off our day right by having your StingRAEs to school early and on time.
Sincerely,
Charmaine Hobin
May PurposeFull People Character Trait- Cooperation
This month’s focus is Cooperation. One way to think about Cooperation is “working together to reach shared goals.” As a family, talk about how this definition applies to how you work together at home. What are some goals you share? Cooperation is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Don’t forget to wear lime green on Tuesday, May 2!

Student Bullying Survey- 4th and 5th Grade
Senate Bill 2050, passed during the 87th legislative session, requires school districts to collect information annually through student surveys on bullying/cyberbullying and use the survey results to develop action plans to address student concerns. All Katy ISD students in 4th-12th grade are invited to participate in an online survey administered by K12 Insight.
K12 Insight manages online surveys for school districts nationwide, safeguarding the confidentiality of participants’ responses. Students will be prompted to enter their student ID numbers solely to verify student participation by campus and grade level in an effort to maintain data integrity. K12 Insight will not provide Katy ISD or any outside party with data that connects a participant to his or her survey responses.
Click here to review the Student Safety Surveys.
4th and 5th Grade students at Alexander Elementary will have the opportunity to take the survey May 8- May 12.
Parents may opt their child out of participation by logging in to MyKaty and selecting the KISD Option Portal icon. The opt-out deadline is May 2, 2023.
Parents with questions about the student survey or who wish to provide feedback are encouraged to email studentsurvey@katyisd.org.

Have You Moved, or Are You Moving This Summer
Parents are the only person who have the right to access their child; therefore, it is important that parents designate other persons to whom they wish to grant lunch privileges. For safety purposes, Katy ISD guidelines limit lunchroom visitors at the elementary level to parents/step-parents/guardians, non-school – aged siblings and grandparents (accompanied by a parent or with written permission from a parent), or campus mentors. Visitors will be limited to a 30-minute lunch. Due to space limitations at the elementary level, no exceptions to the list of approved visitors can be made. Lunch visitors do not include aunts, uncles, friends, or neighbors. In addition, lunch visitors are limited to two (2) guests per student per day except on days designated by the campus. Unusual circumstances may be approved/addressed by the principal. Parents are asked to use the form below to designate the family member(s) who have written permission to have lunch (unaccompanied by a parent) with the above-named student for the entire school year.
· All visitors must be Raptored into our system with their Driver's License. Please allow extra time to be raptored. You will not be granted access without proper identification.
· Please no photos are to be taken.
· Please no sharing food with other students.
· Due to space limitations, strollers are not permitted.
Please Note: Please do not plan to have lunch with your child on any Monday or Wednesdays. In addition, the following days are No Lunch Visitor days due to other events/activities happening on campus that require front office support.
The following are the No Lunch Visitor Dates for Mayl:

Please complete this form to report your student's FULL DAY ABSENCE (for CURRENT DAY ONLY). FULL DAY Absences must be reported daily before 2:30pm.
Reporting an Absence for your child is important.
The preferred, simplest, accurate and most prompt method is Online reporting.
For multiple continuous days and doctor notes, please email RAEstudentattendance@katyisd.org stating the reason for the absence, legal first and last name, teacher, and grade. If an absence does not meet the criteria for an excused absence as specified in KISD Board policy, the absence will be considered unexcused. All notes from a healthcare provider MUST be turned into the attendance office within (5) days upon student's return to school.
Injuries
We hate to see our StingRAEs injured, but we know it happens sometimes. If your student has an injury such as a broken bone (fracture) or sprain and cannot participate in physical activities, our coaches and nurse need documentation. If it is a mild injury that you are monitoring at home, your child may sit out of PE for up to 10 days with a parent note. If it is a more serious injury, we will need a letter from your student's doctor. It is KISD policy that your child can not return to physical activities until we have received an updated letter from the doctor stating that your child is cleared to return to physical activities.
Please know that if your child cannot participate in PE, they must also sit out during recess. They may walk or do other very low impact activities such as a boardgame or sidewalk chalk during recess.
We want your students to participate as much as possible. Please keep us updated on their injuries and provide updated doctor's notes so that they may return to all the fun as soon as it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your help and cooperation,
Coach Leppert, Coach Barrera, and Nurse Amanda

Katy ISD is excited to announce the implementation of the District’s Raptor Volunteer Initiative for the upcoming school year. Beginning October 1, the district will require all volunteers serving on campus during the instructional day to register with the district through its Raptor security system. Raptor ensures quick and easy volunteer registration allowing individual volunteers to create and manage a personal volunteer profile.
In addition, the Raptor Volunteer Initiative will:
• Provide an additional layer of protection for Katy ISD students, staff, volunteers, and campus visitors
• Unite all district volunteers into one Katy ISD volunteer community
• Measure and communicate the positive impact of Katy ISD volunteer organizations Once registered and approved, individual volunteers can:
• Submit and track hours via their volunteer profile for every Katy ISD campus at which they volunteer
• The system also provides quick and easy submission of individual off campus volunteer hours
The volunteer registration requirement will extend to all volunteers serving
on or off-campus, during or after the instructional day effective January 4.
