Habits at Home: Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw
Try this simple exercise to illustrate Habit 7 for your family. Gather a book and 4 different sized cups or glasses and also 4 cups or glasses that are all the same size. Pretend you are making a table using the cups/glasses as the legs of the table and the book as the top of the table. The cups represent our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. First try making your table with the different size cups. Most likely it isn’t balanced and it would be very difficult to use. Now try it with the same size cups/glasses. With everything in balance, our table holds steady and strong, just like our lives when we make a conscious effort to balance our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. As we end this year, we hope that the summer months will give your family a chance to rest and relax and enjoy all the things you love as you practice Habit 7.
Nurse's Notes
Dear Lone Star Families,
It is the home stretch! The light is visible at the end of the tunnel! You can just about stick a fork in it and call it done! Homeschooling may have gone way better than you could have ever imagined or been a horrible disaster that you would soon like to forget or fallen somewhere in the middle of that spectrum. Whatever has been your family's experience, we all can finish well. As a never homeschooler mom of 5 young adults, there are more cringe worthy parenting memories than I care to admit. I wish I would have handled many situations differently. I can apologize to my son or daughter for each specific instance without tacking the word "but" and an explanation at the end. I can forgive myself, knowing I did the best I could with what I had at the time. I can learn from my mistakes and move on. I have finished well.
I am available by email for individual questions and concerns.
