We Live the Word!

From the Principal's Desk

Dear Father Doyle Families,

Happy Easter! He is risen, alleluia!

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying some time as a family during our April recess. While school has not been in session this week, we're looking forward to quite a few exciting events, programs, and celebrations in the weeks ahead.

Firstly, all families are invited to our Family Fun Night on Friday, May 6th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Join us for hamburgers, hot dogs, music, and more including a Cornhole Tournament and "Chalk the Walk" activity! Please note that an RSVP is required by Wednesday, April 27th. Let us know you're joining us by completing the form here.

In addition, the evening will kick-off with the unveiling of our new Learning Center! There will be a brief dedication and presentation at 5:30pm, and all families are welcome to attend. The renovations in the Learning Center were made possible through the proceeds from our 2021 Walk-a-thon, so thank you to all of our families who generously supported this great annual event!

In addition, we're excited to announce our final round of spring programming with SPARK Business Academy. We will be offering two, shorter, five-week courses to finish out the academic year. Champion Gamers (May 10th-June 7th), which will test students' skill playing various board games the require reading, math, and critical thinking skills, is open to students in grades 3-6. Register for Champion Gamers by clicking here. In addition, My First Piggy Bank (May 12th- June 9th), which includes games and interactive, hands-on activities to help students learn key concepts about budgeting and money, is open to students in grades PK-2. Register for My First Piggy Bank by clicking here.

Lastly, our final Open House of the 2021-2022 academic year is Monday, May 9th from 5:00pm-7:00pm. If your middle school student would be interested in serving as a student ambassador at the Open House, they should see Mrs. Marra in the week ahead. COVID-19 Travel Policies

Current RIDOH guidance states “if you’re traveling to Rhode Island from a location within the United States... you’re not currently required to quarantine or get tested after arrival whether or not you’re vaccinated.” However, to lower the chances of spreading COVID-19 and help mitigate risk within the school community, Father Doyle is requiring students who are not vaccinated who have traveled from a location for vacation or similar extended stay within the United States to submit a negative PCR test taken upon their arrival back in Rhode Island prior to returning to school.

Unvaccinated students choosing not to get tested will be required to quarantine for seven days while monitoring for symptoms before returning to school. Vaccinated individuals do not need to test or quarantine prior to returning to school.

Weekly COVID-19 Data and Information

Last Week:**

Tests Completed On-Site* - Week of 4/10-4/14: 47

Student Positive Cases - Week of 4/10-4/14: 2

Staff Positive Cases - Week of 4/10-4/14: 1

This Week:

No Tests Conducted On Site - April Break

*Tests completed on-site does not represent the total number of tests performed on all members of the school population, as some testing, including identification of some positive cases, is conducted at state sites.

**Please note, these numbers may be adjusted from last week's Newsletter to reflect test results returned after the sending of the Newsletter.

In addition, rapid tests used to end isolation early are not included in the testing numbers, as these individuals had previously tested positive.

Scheduling a Test for Your Symptomatic Student

If your child develops symptoms and is need of a PCR test to return to school, we recommend scheduling a drive-up test at the school. We usually receive results within 24-48 hours, which is must faster than the current turnaround time at state sites.

You can schedule that test here:

Please note, the link will be updated each week with the days that PCR testing is available. You do not need a new link each week.

We are only able to offer drive-up PCR testing on certain days based on the availability of our nurses. Thank you for your understanding!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection

What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected

Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence

How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.

Bottle Cap Drive

We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.

All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.

Thank you!
