Happy Mother’s Day!
Mother’s Day 2022
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
~1 Corinthians 13:4-8~
Mother’s Day is a great time for us to reflect upon this passage about love, because it tells the story of the vocation of motherhood. In this year where our theme is God Calls Us Each By Name, let us celebrate all those who embrace the role of mother in our lives; who have answered God’s call and fill our lives with so much patient, kind and joyful love.

FOODBANK DONATIONS - MAY
Our grades 5-9 students have an extra challenge this year! Mr Mauricio has created the opportunity to have some fun with our students through our social justice activity this month. The classroom that collects the most amount of items for our parish foodbank will get the chance to play a game of Wheelchair Basketball against the staff on May 20th. For this challenge, students in grades 5-9 should bring their items in by May 19th.

HIGHLIGHTING OUR MDT
We are grateful to be able to call Mrs. N Hughes one of our own. She fills the role of FSLW at Holy Family and makes an incredible difference in so many ways in our school. Her role is extremely varied and includes a range of services to support the social, emotional and academic needs of children and families. Mrs. Hughes is an important member of our school community, bringing care, comfort, laughs and inclusive beliefs about all persons she works with as well as those she doesn't directly support. Our students love talking to her and joining the student groups she supports or runs.
When not working with students and families, she is a busy mom and wife, a very active community volunteer who always finds time to spend with her 2 dogs.
Some of her favorite quotes describe Mrs. Hughes and her welcoming and loving personality perfectly:
“Speak up for those who cant speak for themselves” - Proverbs 30:8
“Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be Kind” - Brad Meltzer
ENHANCED ACADEMIC PROGRAM (EAP) - JR HIGH
Holy Family is pleased to offer the EAP program for junior high students. This program of choice prepares students for high intellectual engagement by starting the development of skills and acquisition of knowledge as early as possible. The junior high years can provide a powerful opportunity for students to acquire the skills, habits of mind and concepts they need to engage in higher levels of learning. Students who will be successful in this program can perform at rigorous academic levels and enjoy being challenged to expand their knowledge and skills.
If you child is currently enrolled in the EAP program OR is a current student of Holy Family School, you simply need to email your child's teacher or the principal at corinne.peacher@ecsd.net and we will review your request that way. You do not need to complete the application on the website.
