The Principal Pack
Greetings Washington families,
We have started second semester with a few changes and added more opportunities for students to make connections within our learning community. In order to build consistency and keep a focus on learning, we are asking all students to use their student planners for passes if they need to leave a class. We have also started a system of making up time at lunch or after school with teachers when students miss class instruction.
Below are the after school opportunities for second semester.
Board Game Club on Tuesdays from 3 to 4 pm in the library computer lab
Study Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 4 pm in the library
Student Council every Thursday from 3 to 4 pm
School play “A Wrinkle in Time”
Weight room open Mondays and Thursdays from 3 to 4

Character Education is the focus on Tuesdays. This month is all about Integrity: Choosing your thoughts and actions based on values rather than personal gain. Wednesdays this month is about fun brain break activities and connecting through community circle questions: If you could... what would you choose. Mondays are all about mindset and students will be working on what it looks like and feels like to take chances and put forth full effort.

Fidgeting
Our school counselors recently shared the benefits of fidget tools with our staff. Fidgeting can help students focus, it can engage tactile learners to keep their hands busy, and it can help students relax when stressed. Fidget tool boxes have been distributed to core and elective teachers to be used in their classrooms when students need assistance focusing.
School Counseling Week
February 3-7 is School Counseling Week. It is an opportunity to remind students and staff about the counseling services that are available. We plan to do an activity each day to highlight
8th Grade Scheduling
The 8th grade individual planning conferences have been exhilarating for our counselors and students! It has been a privilege to meet with all 8th graders and to dream with them about their future plans.
All conferences should be completed by the beginning of February. Class registrations will then be submitted to Lincoln High School so staff can set schedules for next year. Students will receive their schedules later this summer.
6th/7th Grade Course Selection
We anticipate the course registration process to begin the end of February or early March for 6th/7th graders. More details will be communicated in the future.
Family/Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be Thursday, February 20. Please stop by the counseling office to meet our team. We would love to meet you!
We are excited to be connecting with students, learning goals, and future plans. Please feel free to reach out to our counselors if you have any questions.
