A MESSAGE FROM THE ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM

Dear HMS Families,

In this season of gratitude, we want to share a big thank you for all that you have done to help get this school year off to a great start, and for supporting us through the many new processes and changes that have occurred through the last few months. We are so thankful to have such a wonderful parent and student community, and wish you the best over the next week as you hopefully find time to celebrate Thanksgiving with your family and friends.

Take a look below at how some of our students expressed their gratitude this week!

In gratitude,

Kelly, Linda, and Susie

Homework Club has started at HMS!

HMS Homework Club will be available to all students on a drop-in basis on Mondays through Thursdays from 3:45 - 4:45 in the Learning Commons. The Homework Club is supervised by two Highcrest staff members, and is an opportunity for students to work in a quiet place with their materials available at school so they can complete their homework. If staying for Homework Club, students will need to have transportation home, whether that is a ride home, their bike, or the HMS late bus (which takes them to their home elementary school). Come and get your homework done in the LC!

It's Getting Cold Out There!

Please remind your child to dress for the weather on a daily basis, as the weather is getting colder! Students will be going outside for PE and recess as long as the temperature and weather is agreeable, and we would like them to have coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and anything that they need to keep warm! Thanks for helping to keep them bundled!

Jesse Brown VA Holiday Sharing Drive and HMS Student Council

As you may be aware, students at HMS made cards for the Veterans at the Jesse Brown VA Hospital in Chicago. This past Monday, we had the opportunity to connect with Debra Denhart, a Veteran and the Officer of Public Affairs at the Jesse Brown VA. This was such a great learning experience for our students!

As we enter the season of giving, the Student Council is excited to support a continued partnership with the VA Hospital by supporting their Holiday Sharing program. Our HMS Student Council has challenged each of our homerooms to raise money for a gift card (one per homeroom) to contribute to the VA's Program and support the families of Veterans in our area. See more information about this program HERE.
