Loaded Baked Potato

Come see Longfellow's Fall Play, the Loaded Baked Potato IV: Foiled Again! A sketch comedy show written and performed by Longfellow students. Performances are Thursday and Friday October 27th and 28th at 7:00pm in the Longfellow Auditorium. Admission is FREE, but we will be taking donations that will go towards the Longfellow Drama Department. Come see us!

Homework Helpers

Homework Helpers will be in the library on Wednesdays from 4pm to 5pm.

Red Ribbon Week

Red Ribbon Week this year will be celebrated at LMS from October 24- October 31. In celebration of Red Ribbon Week, students will be allowed to participate in dress up days.


Monday, October 24: AMerica Monday- Wear all things Red, White, and Blue

Tuesday, October 25: Twinning Day- Find a friend to be your twin

Wednesday, October 26: Way Back Wednesday- Choose an outfit from another decade

Thursday, October 27: Three Point Thursday- Wear your favorite team

Friday, October 28: Finally Friday- PJ day

Monday, October 31: Boo to drugs- Halloween costumes


For all dress up days, students may not have face paint, masks, bloody/ scary, or pretend weapons. Please make sure that all costumes meet the dress code and are appropriate for school.

Picture Retakes are on Friday, October 21. If a student has not taken a school picture or wants to return a picture packet for retakes, please bring the packets back that day to be turned in to the OSP Staff.

Counselor Updates

In 6th grade guidance, Mrs. Grace shared with students what they can expect from the counseling staff, and the types of assistance/guidance they can receive. Students discussed guidance unit expectations and the importance of confidentiality. Each student completed a Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. This questionnaire will help identify areas of focus for future guidance units or small groups. Students participated in a team building activity: Spaghetti Tower.

Love for Lions

Longfellow's Holiday Gift Program is still in need of sponsors! If you are interested in sponsoring a Longfellow student for the holidays who may not otherwise receive gifts please sign up with the form below. We will send a confirmation email to you once we receive your submission.


Students selected for the program are interviewed for their 3 wants and 3 needs. Once we have the wish lists from students we will send it to you via email with details regarding gift drop off and labeling. All sponsored students remain confidential. The counseling department and Boy Scouts are able to provide families with a turkey, potatoes and groceries but we need your help with gifts!


Last year we were able to sponsor 118 students! We are on track this year to reach just as many but need your help!

Athletic Update

Football:

  • Practice MWThF (unless otherwise changed by coaches);
  • Game Tuesday against Highland at Moore Central (MS stadium right off of I-35 in Moore) 7th Grade at 5:30 pm and 8th grade at 7 pm


Softball- The LMS softball program is proud to announce our first Field Day!

On Sunday, October 16 at 2pm. Events will include a cookout, Varsity vs Alumni game, a home run derby and a K-5 Base Race. Donations for admission will be accepted. You may also see Coach Tiff and Coach Jess make an appearance. There will be food for purchase. All proceeds are going to the LMS softball team for a scoreboard.


Basketball- Girl basketball tryouts will be Tuesday October 25 after school. Boy basketball tryouts will be Thursday October 27. Open gym will be Monday (4-6 pm),

Wednesday (4-6 pm), Thursday (6:15- 8:00 am), Friday (4-6 pm). All participants in open gym must have completed all required forms in Rank One.


Wrestling- Practice after school will be at Norman North Monday through Friday from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. The activity bus picks up right after school at 3:45 pm. You must have all requred form on Rank One in order to participate.

Microwaves Needed

The two microwaves in the cafeteria have quit. We are accepting donations of microwaves for our students to use in the cafeteria.

Fall Festival sponsored by PTA

Join us for the fall festival on October 24th from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. There will be food and games during this outside event.

Support LMS Lions @ Sonic

Visit Sonic on Tuesday October 18 from 5:00 to 8;00 pm and tell them you are with Longfellow MS. All proceeds go to support LMS activities.

Opportunity for Superintendent Hofmeister's Student Advisory Council

Oklahoma State Superintendent Hofmeister is accepting applications for the State Student Advisory Council. Twenty-five students from across Oklahoma will be selected to participate in the council to help address the needs of students across Oklahoma. Students can ask their counselor for an application.

Fine Arts Fundraiser

Hungry?? Like yummy pastries?? The LMS Fine Arts department is selling Kansas Maid Pastries (formerly known as Butter Braids). We will be taking orders until October, 21, 2016. Contact a Fine Arts student or teacher for information. Thank you for your support!!

Norman North High School presents The Sound of Music

Longfellow MS will be viewing The Sound of Music presented by Norman North's drama department on October 27th. All students will be transported on buses. Students are encouraged to bring a sack lunch for the day. Sack lunches will be available in the cafeteria. We will run an afternoon schedule once we have returned.
