A Note from Spanish
¡Hola familias! January 2017
This year in Spanish class your child will be working with classmates to simulate a tianguis. The tianguis is a huge market of fruits/vegetables, clothing, toys and some gently-used items of all descriptions. It is held every week and springs up in a designated outdoor space in most towns and cities in Mexico. You can find so many treasures at a tianguis!
In order to have a variety of items at the tianguis for the students to participate in this simulation using Spanish, we need donations. Think fun! Think kid-friendly! Think MEXICO! What would your child like to buy? Items may be gently-used or new. If you do not have items to donate at this time, an alternative would be to consider donating $5.00 and I will purchase items for the class. Or if you can, do both! Donate an item or two and the $5! We will need the items by May 1, 2017, as we will need to focus on building our vocabularies in order to have the right communication tools for the big day of the TIANGUIS!
We need the following fifth grader-friendly donations:
Souvenirs from Mexico canvas bags/reuseable shopping bags
stuffed animals toy cars
silk flowers Necklaces, bracelets, rings
yoyos Ceramic mugs
balls small bottled waters
Please consider donating items and/or $5.00 to support this experiential learning opportunity. Students will organize and label the items to be sold before the actual tianguis simulation in May, so the sooner the donations start coming in, the better. You may send donations in right away!
Thank you in advance for your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly.
