CHES Weekly Snapshot
10/28/19-11/1/19
From the Principal
Congrats to all of our student leaders who gave speeches last week! Each year I am blown away by our students and I can't help but think about how lucky we are to have such a caring staff that goes above and beyond to promote student leadership for our kiddos!
We have two big things happening at CHES this week. The first thing happening is a slight change to our master schedule. We have had to make a few minor adjustments to make things even better for our students. The changes parents should note are a few tweaks to lunches for 1st, 4th, and 5th. 1st grade is now going to start entering for lunch at 10:20 (10 minutes earlier), 4th will eat at 12:30 instead of 12:15, and 5th will eat at 12:00 instead of 12:30. These changes begin on Monday, 10/28. For your reference, here are the lunch, recess, and resource schedules for all grade levels:
Kindergarten-Lunch 10:00, Resource 10:45, Recess 12:30
1st-Lunch 10:20, Recess 11:00, Resource 12:30
2nd-Resource 9:00, Lunch 11:30, Recess 12:00
3rd-Resource 8:15, Lunch 11:00, Recess 11:30
4th-Resource 10:00, Lunch 12:30, Recess 1:00
5th-Recess 10:00, Lunch 12:00, Resource 1:15
The other big thing happening at CHES this week is a super cool assembly for our students. The PTA is bringing Dr. Recess to CHES this Thursday. The Dr. Recess Assembly & Playground Games program is an on-site assembly and games program that promotes the importance of being active and living a healthy life by using developmentally appropriate games to teach social/emotional skills, thinking skills, and motor skills to elementary school children. It was created by award-winning teacher and author, Curt Hinson, Ph.D., as part of the Trouble-free Playground program. Dr. Hinson’s Trouble-free Playground program is currently being implemented at schools in all 50 states. The Dr. Recess Assembly & Playground Games program allows schools to improve the health and fitness levels of children by teaching them appropriate games and activities to play during recess.
