Mrs.Duklet's Kindergarten Class
Peek at the Week!
Week of October 10th
This week we continued to build upon our classroom community by picking a classmate to greet!
We also began our engineering in education unit, which focuses on how sun is a heat source. The students learned about a girl from Africa and how her family cooked food. We then participated in an experiment with solar ovens. The students observed how different materials absorb heat.

Weekly Highlights
This week in reading we learned how readers discover new things each time we re-read a book. We also continued to work with our reading partners and learned that partners can pause and think about the most important parts of a story.
In math we worked on writing numbers 1-5 and representing numbers 1-10 with objects.
In social studies we learned about Christopher Columbus. We also learned about where we live including country, state and city. We practiced using a compass to explore the outside!
