National School Counselor's Week February 6th-12th
February 6th-10th was National School Counseling Week. The theme this year is "SCHOOL COUNSELORS: HELPING STUDENTS DREAM BIG". PJH celebrated our counselors by sending notes of thanks and gratefulness. Mrs. Cindy Fraser and Mrs. Tara Furr truly take care of us all, and often find little time for themselves. We are blessed to have them supporting our students and staff!! Please join us in letting them know how much we appreciate their efforts.

SCHOOL COUNSELORS: HELPING STUDENTS DREAM BIG
Implementing Campus Wide Writing Strategies- EVERY GRADE, EVERY CLASS
All PJH teachers are implementing the CER writing strategy in their classrooms. Getting students to understand CER is important because it helps them think through the scientific process. All claims must have supporting evidence, and students should be able to explain the reasoning behind their thoughts.
Acadmic UIL Meet
PJH competed in the academic UIL meet on January 18th at NCTC Gainesville campus. All eight teams in the district participated. The Junior High students competed very well and finished second overall. We finished the meet with 10 District Champions and 29 medalists. I am very proud of our students and coaches for putting in the extra work to continue our tradition of excellence.
TMSCA
Our TMSCA students traveled to Paradise on February 4th. They dominated the competition and brought home the Sweepstakes Trophy. Please help me congratulate them all. The TMSCA team will participate in State Qualifying meets at Springtown and Whitesboro the next two weekends. Please help me wish them luck as all team members are working hard to earn their golden ticket for the STATE meet on April 1st!!
Ponder FFA
Congratulations are in order to several of our FFA participants. It has been a very successful February!! Paisley McShan placed 3rd in a huge Landrace class at the San Antonio Gilt show. Piper Childress and Emma Johnston also exhibited and did an amazing job.
At the Fort Worth Stock Show, Henry Angeley placed 3rd with a Class 9 Exotic. We had several other students that did a great job showing their animals-Randy Crumpton, Cade Jackson and Charlie Norman.
