Staff vs. Student Basketball Game - Teachers Win!

The Student vs Staff basketball game was a HUGE success! We would like to thank all of the staff who worked so hard to make this a fun evening. Also, thank you to all the parents and students who attended - it was the largest crowd we have ever had for this event! During the assembly at school today, we presented Feed Northland Kids with a $1500 check. Thank you again for your support!

Growth and Development Lesson - November 20th

The lesson for Tuesday will be specific to the following standard: Growth & Development Video about Puberty for both Males and Females. Students will watch board-approved videos detailing physical changes occurring during puberty for both boys and girls. There are 2 videos: 1 about changes in males during puberty and 1 about changes in females during puberty.

At the team level, students will watch the BOE approved videos. For the lesson, students will be separated by gender on the team. Each of the groups will watch both videos. The girls will watch the girl puberty video and then will watch the boy puberty video. The boys will watch the boy puberty video and then will watch the girl puberty video.

You can access the videos from the following links.

Below are PDFs that provide detailed information on the 6th Grade Health and Life Ed Curriculum. Should you have questions, please contact your child’s home base teacher.

End of Day Transportation Changes

Please call the office by 2:00PM for any end of day transportation changes. This will allow us enough time to notify the students. Last minute phone calls can cause confusion for the students and can delay buses as we are trying to locate the students to direct them to the car line. Thank you for helping us facilitate a smooth dismissal each and every day!

Pick-Up Information:

· Car riders: your child must be picked up no later than 4:10 pm.

· Intramural buses: We do have late bus transportation for intramurals. The intramural bus leaves Plaza every Tuesday and Thursday at 4:20 pm. Intramural buses are shared with Lakeview and Congress so there will be 7th and 8th graders riding the late buses. Late buses run express neighborhood stops-ONLY, which are not always the same stops as the regular bus routes.

You can anticipate your child arriving home as late as 5:30 pm due to the neighborhood stops and shared bus format. Receiving a bus conduct on the intramural bus will result in suspension from late bus transportation for the remainder of the year.

PTA Clothing Center Info & Dates

The PTA of the Park Hill School District runs a clothing center that provides free, gently used clothing and new socks and underwear to district students. The PTA Clothing Center serves all Park Hill School District students from kindergarten through 12th grade, and the PTA asks you to bring some proof that you are enrolled in a Park Hill school. This could be a student ID, bus pass, dated letter from a principal or social worker, class schedule or enrollment form.

Donations are welcomed at the Clothing Center, which is at 8009 N Atkins, just south of the Gerner Family Early Education Center. Please make sure your donations are clean, in good condition and bagged in kitchen-sized bags that the volunteers can lift. The PTA needs student and adult volunteers for sorting donations and adult volunteers to staff the center on shopping days. Contact Sara Monsees at to sign up for notifications about when we need volunteers .For additional information, please contact one of the PTA Clothing Center team members:

New Infinite Campus Apps

We are excited to let you know that Infinite Campus has released two brand new apps to connect Park Hill families with what’s going on in the classroom. These free apps are called Campus Parent and Campus Student, and they are designed to give parents and students real-time access to grades, attendance information, assignments, and more. The easy-to-use design displays what is happening in the classroom so you can understand, monitor, and participate in the educational process.

They are available for download from both Google Play and the Apple Store. If you already have the current Campus Portal app for parents, it will no longer be supported; make sure to download the new Campus Parent so you don’t miss anything.

Don’t forget to enable push notifications for instant updates! Just download the app, tap the user icon in the top right, and select Settings > Notification Settings.

Parent-Student Handbook

The parent-student handbook has been written to provide important information concerning specific rules, policies, and procedures related to the safety and operation of our schools. In order for schools to operate safely and efficiently, you and your student(s) must be familiar with and abide by the expectations, procedures and rules outlined in this handbook.

The student handbook summarizes district policy and contains general guidelines and information.

Replacement Fees

At the beginning of the school year, Plaza provides every student with the following supplies; lanyard, case holder, ZPass (student ID card), binder, planner and page protectors. If your student needs to replace any of these items due to them being lost or damaged, they can do so in the office.

Lanyards - $2

Binders - $1

Planners - $1

Case Holders - $.50

Page Protectors - $.25

ID (ZPass) - The district will provide the first and second ZPass free of charge. Any additional requests for a lost ZPass will cost $5 each time. We ask that you give it at least 48 hours after the ID cannot be found before requesting a new one. Many times they are found and a new ID is not needed.

Deliveries made to Plaza Students

Please read the following from the Park Hill School District Parent/Student Handbook regarding deliveries made to students:

Delivery of flowers, balloons or other gift items to school is discouraged due to student
allergies, limited storage and disruption to the education environment. All items will be held in the office until the end of the day, or parents/guardians may be contacted to pick them up if deemed appropriate. Personal items needed during the school day must be dropped off by a parent/guardian, adult household member or person authorized by the parent/guardian. Deliveries of commercially prepared food by individuals other than a parent/guardian or person authorized by the parent/guardian are not permitted. If commercially prepared food is delivered to a student by the parent/guardian or person authorized by the parent/guardian, the student will consume the food in an area designated by a building administrator or designee.

There are many different ways we stay connected with our Plaza families! We have an online newsletter that is updated weekly and you can view at anytime. Also, be sure to visit the Park Hill District Website to sign up for all district alerts, First Hand Mobile Alerts and First Hand Email Alerts.
