Lake Orion Book Drive
Do you have outgrown or unread books clogging up your shelves at home? You can put those books into the hands of young readers by donating them to the annual Lake Orion book drive! Simply bring ANY used or new books, from infant to adult, to the collection bin at your child's school. Staff will collect and sort donations and Preschool through 12th grade teachers will be invited to select books for classroom use. Books not adopted into classrooms will be donated to local literacy programs. Our book drive has placed thousands of books in to the hands of Lake Orion students over the years! Bring books anytime now through November 28. Thank you and happy reading!

Positivity Project - Creativity
Creative people can look at the world in original ways. They are open to new experiences, and have an imaginative and independent thought process. They generate lots of different ideas and can pursue them with energy and enthusiasm. Creativity is a process that takes courage. Anytime you share your original ideas with the world, you risk being criticized or even ostracized.
Positive psychology breaks creativity into two components: First, he/she must produce original ideas or behaviors. Second, the original idea or behavior must make a positive contribution to that person’s life or the lives of others. There are both big and small acts of creativity. Big acts are exemplified by great artists and scientists. Small acts include everyday acts of creativity, such as how people create solutions to deal with problems at work or at home.
Extra candy anyone?
We will collect Halloween Candy donations again for troops/veterans/first responders via:
https://www.operationgratitude.com/express-your-thanks/halloween-candy/
Some hopes from Operation Gratitude:
· -DON’T send Pixy Stix (or other powdery candy). They make a mess inside the Care Packages.
· -DON’T sort your candy. We want to make sure our Troops, Veterans and First Responders get a variety of treats in each Care Package.
Oakview will accept all donations through: 11/5/18. Please deliver to B-16 (Owens)
