"Unlock the Treasure in Every Child" - January 27, 2020

Big picture

No School!

There will be NO SCHOOL on Wednesday, January 29th!

January 29th is a teacher work day. Our staff will participate in professional development and collaborating to plan instruction.

Positivity Project - Other People Matter Mindset

This week our students will return to the root of the Positivity Project - Other People Matter!

Our focus for the week will be to further explore the Other People Matter (OtherBucsMatter) Mindset with a specific focus on Supporting Others when they Struggle.

Mr. Simons and Ms. Oas will be working with each grade level this week to explore the notion of "Paying it Forward" with an act of kindness.

Challenge your family to "Pay it Forward" by showing an act of kindness this week. Tweet @BuckhornCreekES to show us how your family paid it forward.

Use the quotes and videos below to host discussion with your child.

"Strong people don't put others down, they lift them up." ~Unknown

"Help people even when you know they can't help you back. ~Unknown

The Bystander Effect

Crazy Hair Day

Friday, January 31st is school spirit day. Wear your crazy hair!

Book Fair!

The Buckhorn Creek Elementary PTA is putting on our 2nd annual Book Fair. This is a great opportunity for students to supplement their home libraries with great books while raising funds for free books for their classrooms and the school library. 50% of the Book Fair sales goes back to the school in the form of free books.

The Book Fair will run Monday February 3 – Friday February 7. Students will visit the Book Fair on Monday and Tuesday to create Wish Lists. All families are invited to shop the Book Fair during Family Night on Tuesday February 4 from 5pm – 8pm. Students can purchase throughout the week during school hours as well. Grandparents are invited to attend the Book Fair with their student on Thursday February 6 from 10:30 am – 2pm during the school Grandparents Day event.

A new digital payment option, called eWallet, allows your student to shop the Fair cash-free. Can’t make it to the Book Fair? Shop The Scholastic Store online. Visit our homepage to access eWallet or shop online: https://bookfairs.scholastic.com/bf/buckhorncreekelemschool.

We need your help! Volunteer to help during the Book Fair: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090E4EADAD2FA6F58-buckhorn
