Penguin Patch Holiday Shop ... Coming Soon December 2019
Our PTO is bringing the Penguin Patch Holiday Shop to Green Meadows the week of Dec. 16th so that students can shop for their family and friends. More information will go home soon. PTO will be looking for some volunteers if you can help out!
Pet Food, Toys, and Supplies Drive...
Our GM Family Pets Bulletin Board looks great. Thanks so much for sending in pictures of your family pets, the ones you have or the ones you WISH you had. If you haven’t sent yours in, there’s still time. Our students and staff love looking at these photos. In the spirit of giving, our school community will begin a Pet Drive in the month of December. We will collect pet food, toys, and other pet supplies to donate to a local animal shelter. We like to take care of our furry friends!
Amazing Hero Art Show
A huge thank you to the Wilbraham Hampden Academic Trust and our PTO for helping to bring Rob Surette and the Amazing Hero Art Show to the HWRSD. Our second and third graders joined students from Stony Hill and Mile Tree and enjoyed the truly spectacular show called “Be Somebody”. Rob Surette has appeared on the Today Show, Good Morning America, The Tonight Show, Sesame Street and the Oprah Winfrey show. He has also won six world records and was published in Time magazine. He has also appeared in a Super Bowl commercial! This amazing speed painting show was truly unique, heartfelt and inspirational. So glad our students were a part of it.
Student Council Food Drive
With your help, Student Council and Mr. Baker, donated over 900 non-perishable food items to a local food pantry.
Session 2: Sign-ups
The flier for our second enrichment session will be going home soon. Students will get to choose from chess and board games, dodge ball, and Kids Yoga! More to come.
Teddy Bear Picnic in PreK
Preschoolers in Mrs. Kalish’s class recently earned a “Teddy Bear Picnic”. They spread out their blankets and dined with their stuffed animals. Then, they worked together to sort them by attributes. Take a look.
Kinder Math
LUSO Bingo and Ice Cream Social
Our families had a great time as usual. Take a look at a few pictures below. A huge shout-out to LUSO for generously donating to fund our after school Homework Club. This club is available for students in grades two through eight who might need a quiet place and a bit of support to get their homework done. Our next session begins in January, if interested.
Coding Afterschool Enrichment
What does Xbox, an iPhone, and a robot all have in common? They all use code! Students are learning all about coding and using it to solve Minecraft mazes, to program Star Wars droids, to create computer art and to code their own sports games. Students are having lots of fun learning the basics of coding and participating in activities on their Chromebooks through code.org.
Middle School Science Lab
Narrative Writing Celebration
Our fourth and fifth graders had a narrative writing celebration recently. Groups of students shared their stories with one another and they shared compliments and appreciations!
Thanks for Reading!
