Being informed of major milestones throughout the lifespan of human beings, helps to guide educators in promoting proper growth and development. Knowing developmental milestones in newborn and infancy development gives parents, caregivers, or educators the guidelines of knowing if growth is taking place in a normal or average pace.

Enduring Understandings
- Infants, toddlers, and preschoolers have developmental target milestones.
- A healthy and safe learning environment is key for normal developing children as well as special needs.

- How does family and society influence the development of the infant?
- How much ability do we have in the control and changes of family and society influences in infant development?
