A Peek at Our Upcoming Weeks
Reading: We will be working on the skill Compare and Contrast this week during reading. Our story for the week is "Seal Surfer" and can be found in the reading book. The students are doing a much better job at their long response questions. Please continue to work on giving DETAILS from the text to support their answers. Comprehension test will be Friday. This is an OPEN BOOK TEST.
Unit 5 Vocabulary Test Friday February 21st.
please have them study these words a little each night.
Next Week!
We will be reading TRAPPED BY THE ICE, it is also in the reading text book and will be test on Friday February 28th and it is OPEN BOOK.
We will also start UNIT 6 vocabulary next week and have a TEST ON FRIDAY THE 28TH.
Math: The kids did a great job on measurement and perimeter! We are now moving into Time, Topic 16. The hardest concept is finding elapsed time. Try to give them real life examples in your everyday life. For example, if soccer practice lasts 45 min, and it takes 10 min. to get home, what time did soccer practice start if you got home at 7:00 P.M.? No tests this week. We may have a quiz over the lessons that I feel the class has mastered.
Next week will be continuing TIME and elapsed time. We will have a Topic 16 Test sometime next week but it will depend on how quickly we are mastering the topic. I will you know ahead of time.
Science: We will continue to study matter. Please make sure the kids are not waiting until the last minute to study this material. They are always welcome to bring home their science journal to study the notes we take in class! We will not be having a science test this week. We will have our science test late next week. We will then move on to chapter 7!
Important Dates:

Mrs. Latta's Class Needs...
- Bacterial wipes (we are down to one last container)
- Any color pens-we use these all the time and they disappear like socks in a dryer ;) If you have any extra black pens at home that you could send in that would be great!
- BABY WIPES-the kids may have told you that we started using our desks as paper, on some occasions. This means we need baby wipes to clean the desks.
