GLOW GAZETTE
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 5, 2022

Message from the Principal
Students & Parents,
We hope you are enjoying this beautiful long weekend! As a reminder, there is no school on Monday of this week. We hope your family enjoys a Happy Labor Day. We look forward to seeing all students and staff back on campus on Tuesday.
We want our students to be in attendance at school EVERY day. As a result, it's important that I remind the parents of our 7th & 12th graders that students in these grades are required by NC law to receive immunizations in order to attend school. You can read more information in the body of this week's newsletter, but please ensure that we have your student's updated immunization record by Tuesday, September 13 so your child can continue to attend school daily.
Wishing you all a great week ahead!
Kate B. Tayloe
Principal

7th & 12th Grade Required Immunizations
Most immunizations that are required for school are received prior to students entering Kindergarten; however, there are also requirements for rising 7th and 12th graders:
- Students entering 7th grade will be required to have one dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine and one dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine.
- Students entering 12th grade will be required to have a booster (second) dose of meningococcal conjugate vaccine if they have not already received one.
An up-to-date immunization record indicating that your student has received the required immunization is due by the first day of attendance at school. If proof of immunization is not provided within 30 calendar days (by September 13, 2022) after school entry, your student will not be allowed to attend school until it is provided, as required by law.
Updated immunization records can be dropped off at school or scanned/emailed to nasmith@glowacademy.net. Any 7th or 12th grader who does not provide proof of immunization by Tuesday, September 13, will be unable to attend school starting on Wednesday, September 14 until proof of immunization is provided.
If you have questions about required immunizations, please contact me or our school nurse, Valerie Mustamaa (vmustamaa@glowacademy.net).
Afternoon Car Riders
We will be making a small adjustment to ensure the safety of our students and provide a more efficient system during afternoon dismissal. Students will enter their car at the front of Founders Hall in loading zones. Students may no longer walk up the sidewalk to meet their car. This will allow teachers and staff to safely load more than one car at a time, and decrease the wait time. Please pull all the way forward so we can meet our goal of loading 4 to 5 cars at a time. Thank you for your help in this manner.
