Slater Takes a Stands for Student Safety

Big picture
Today, Thomas Heathe Slater Elementary School hosted its first annual Anti-Bullying Rally. The rally was held in the Slater tradition of excellence. The rally featured local heroes that wanted to share the importance of keeping Slater a Bully Free Zone. Featured guests included members of the amazing Atlanta Police Department, members for the fantastic Falcons Cheer-leading squad, and the popular Price Steppers.

All of the featured guests, teachers, parents, and students alike worked to make sure that today's event was fun and informative. It is absolutely important that the message about bullying be made loud and clear.

Mission Monday is Here

Big picture
Each week the Slater students and staff work to build the culture and climate of the school with small acts of kindness. The acts are assigned each week, starting on Monday with the Monday Mission.

Here is this week's mission:

Students: Say thank you to the school cafeteria staff each day after being served.

Staff: Have another staff member compliment a student on your behalf

The Media Center Makes Literacy Come Alive for Slater Scholars

Each week our media specialist, Mrs. Nolan makes literacy come alive for our Slater Scholars. Our students get to check out books on a variety of topics. The books that students can choose from are on their reading level, to allow them to take Accelerated Reader Tests, and to develop a love for learning!

Students get to take a journey each week without ever leaving our school! Slater scholars read to achieve! Encourage your scholar to read at least 30 minutes each day!!
