MVHS Newsletter Volume 1

MVHS Communications team

The Merrimack Valley story is a collection of "Pride"ful moments that grow to shape our identity as a school. The MVHS communications team is proud to expand the ways we share these moments with our community. Look for our next newsletter in two weeks!

Freshmen STEM

Most of our freshmen are in a combined math / science class that spans the entire year. The students pictured are engaged in a science / math investigation studying the relationship between pressure and volume. They freely investigated, modeled the molecule behavior, and collected and graphed their data to gain a full understanding of this phenomenon. Our hope is to continue to connect our math and science problems to increase understanding of both subjects!

Now in its 4th year, TechWomen Ambassadors Week is an initiative to help students, especially young women, explore careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The program is intended to provide exposure for 8th-10th grade students from schools throughout the state to learn more about careers in STEM fields and to create connections to mentors that can help them on their path. The focus is to increase the percentage of women in STEM fields through awareness and education, but our event was open to all male and female students. Students had the chance to meet amazing TechWomen Ambassadors who shared their story! Thanks to Lonza, Forrester, Great Bay Community College, Cambridge Isotope Laboratory, and UNH Space Science Center for our ambassadors and the NH Tech Alliance for bringing us together!
