Thank you to those that were able to come out to our annual Make & Take Night on Thursday, December 6th. Even with the snow & sleet, we had a very large turn out! In fact, we had over 20 more in attendance than the past 3 years! By attending after school events, you are teaching your child that you respect your child, his/her school, and his/her education! Way to go!
Please join us for our Dine & Donate nights when you can. Every little bit goes a LONG way. These events will also be posted on our Facebook page. Thank you!
Winter Break: Monday, December 24th through Monday, January 7th.
Students RETURN on Tuesday, January 8th.
Please remember to send your child to school with appropriate winter wear; this includes a coat, hat, and glove/mittens.
If the Superintendent calls any 2 hour delays, please know that morning half-day classes will be cancelled those days. Afternoon half-day classes will start at the regular time, and full day classes will start 2 hours after the normal morning start time. If the 2 hour delay is on a Wednesday, the start time will only be 2 hours delayed and NOT 2.5 hours delayed.
Changes to End-of-Day Transportation Requests Policy at EPS
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
There is now a dedicated line for all dismissal changes for the end of the day. When parents call the front office, listen carefully to the menu selections and choose #7 for dismissal changes.
The line will automatically go to a dedicated voicemail. Parents are to leave a detailed message with the information needed, including their child's name, the teacher's name, and any bus numbers or names necessary.
All changes MUST be recorded by 2:00 p.m.
At 2:00, the office staff will listen to all of the recordings, write out all passes, and deliver them to the classroom by the end of the day.
The office staff will NOT return messages for confirmation. There simply isn't enough time for this.
Please DO NOT email the front office staff or your child's teacher with changes. There is always the possibility that the person you emailed will not check email in time or is absent that day. Guest teachers do not have access to the teacher's email.
Sending a written note in with your child is still acceptable. Please make sure it is DATED, SPECIFIC, has a CONTACT NUMBER, and is SIGNED by a parent/guardian/adult.
Please help the front office staff at EPS with this time-saving policy! This will free them up to work on other necessary tasks and be more available to the students, staff, and families who come through the front doors.

Still Looking for Experts!
Genius Hour is gearing up and we still need experts! Is that you?
We have just the "gig" for you! On Fridays students will participate in Genius Hour (roughly 1:30 - 2:45) where they will work on self-interested projects and learn from guest speakers about how to express their skills and talent. Not sure you can manage a classroom? No worries! The teachers are there to do that....we just want you to come in and share the fun of your profession or hobby! Contact Jaime Miller for more information: jmiller@rbbschools.net.
The Robotics teams at EPS and EIS are also looking for volunteers to help facilitate the students' quests of building their own robots and trouble shooting issues at practices and events. These students will impress you with their knowledge, but do need adult help on occasion! Volunteers are also needed to help run scrimmages and tournaments (technical knowledge not necessary!). If interested, please contact Jaime Miller at the above email.
What is a PBL? How does it work?
As you may know, the best learning comes from doing. Fifth grade students of Mrs. Burris, Mrs. Crawford, and Mrs. Uhls decided to help support a donation drive for the Monroe Humane Society Association (MCHA) a few weeks ago and have completed many steps to make it happen.
Students were divided into teams to work on different tasks. These tasks included:
- Research the needs of MCHA
- Create lists of items needed
- Create advertisement videos, flyers, digital slides, and posters
- Create a reward for those who donate by giving out an access code to the game THEY CREATED on Code.org
- Decorate boxes to house the donated items
- Place the boxes in the hallways each morning while ringing a bell (It works for the Salvation Army --so why not!?!)
- Organize the items into like categories as they come in
- Communicate with MCHA about their drive's success
- Organize a time to deliver the items to MCHA
The students are very successful in their drive, but they would like to see more donations come in by Wednesday, Dec. 19th! Please consider helping them see their hard work pay off!
Please watch the student made videos below!
