Given the current "Climate" and "Activities" on the part of the Executive, Media, and others - this module should be very interesting!
The four lessons in Module 8 will help you understand how the President works with the US. Congress to develop foreign policy that protects the nation through military action, diplomacy, and trade.
In lesson 7.1, we will focus on the different ways that Supreme Court judges interpret the Constitution. This will help you better understand how the court helped to protect and expand civil rights to more people. By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer this question:
- What are the issues related to judicial activism and judicial restraint that influence our civil rights?
In lesson 8.1, we will investigate how our Presidents shape foreign policy while providing for our national defense. We will learn who is charged with protecting the nation. By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer this question:
- How does the federal government protect the nation using foreign policy and national defense?
In lesson 8.2, you will study the role that the federal government plays in protecting the nation in this lesson. By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer these two questions:
- What are the major responsibilities of the federal government in the areas of foreign policy and national defense?
- How does U.S foreign policy affect selected places and regions of the world?
Lesson 8.3 focuses on the way our government uses diplomacy to solve stressful situations before military action is needed. By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer this question:
- How does our nation use diplomacy to promote American interests around the world?
In Lesson 8.4, we will consider the impact that money has on foreign policy. We will also examine how the U. S. government uses economic resources in its dealings with other nations. By the end of this lesson you will be able to answer this question:
- How does the United States use its economic resources in foreign policy?
