Mrs. Hughes' Class

News for the month of October

Math

This month in Math, we will continue our work with Place Value. We will be able to read, write, and order numbers up to 999,999. Students should also know extended form and word form for these larger numbers. After Place Value, we will round numbers to the nearest 10 and 100 as we estimate sums and differences. We then move into measurement at the end of the month.

Science

This grading period we will work on activities that help us to learn about force, motion, and different forms of energy. We have already learned a little about thermal/heat energy and how it enables the change from one state of matter to another. Help your child identify forms of energy in their everyday surroundings.
