We are nearing the end of the semester.. Please keep involved in what your children are doing at school. Ask them how they are doing in their classes. Be involved in their learning.

Midterm Exams for High School Classes

High school mid-term exams are coming soon. Please note that a mid-term exam counts as 20% of a student's semester 1 grade. It is important that students are prepared and do well on their exams every semester.

This is a reminder to all 6th grade students that we change electives at the start of the second semester. When we return to school, students will get a new schedule with their new arts classes.

Also, for students going into the dance program this spring: We are in need of Grade 6 supplies:

Hand Sanitizer/ Kleenex/ Paper towels/ Band Aides/ Hair ties

We are very excited to start the second half of the year with our 6th grade students. Remember, they will have the same academic classes and teachers, but when we get back from break they will start new elective classes.

6th grade parents - looking for stocking stuffers - please note that all student need their own colored pencils, scissors, and earbuds/headphones due to Covid - students should not be sharing materials if at all possible. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Winter Recess

A reminder to everyone, Winter Break begins on December 19th and school resumes on January 6, 2021!!

Applications for the 2021-2022 School Year

Applications for the 2021-2022 school year will be available on the website by winter break. Any new student that would like to come to MSA in the fall should apply to the school. When our enrollment is full, we will start a waiting list, so please encourage them to get their applications in early.

State Assessments Are Coming!!

Beginning in early April, all MSA students in grades 6-10 will be taking the Florida Standards Assessments. The assessment is a computer-based test except for the writing portions for 6th grade. You or your child can access the training test on the FSA Portal at to become familiar with the interface, item types, and online tools he or she will encounter and use during testing.

If you or your child would like to learn more about the FSA assessments, and specifically the ELA Writing Component Field Test, writing rubrics and other general information they are available on the FSA Portal at

Snowbirds are here!!

As you know, the snowbirds are back!! That means extra cars on the road and extra traffic every day. Please make time to account for this in your travels to and from school each day. If your student is late to school, they are missing instruction and valuable time in class.

Thank you for your attention to this increasing problem of school tardies.

If you are waiting to enter the car loop, please DO NOT block the main entrance/exit of the school. This is a safety hazard. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Cooler Weather Coming

Please remember that as the weather gets colder, the uniform policy still is in effect and enforced.

Please note the following items:

• ONLY MSA sweatshirts/jackets are allowed inside the secured areas during the school day

• Shirts worn under uniform shirts must be a solid color

• Students may not wear gloves, scarves, or hats during the school day. Leg warmers may only be worn below the knee.

Students must wear ONLY MSA uniform apparel while at school. This is for the safety and security of all our students while they are at school.

Attention 6th Grade Parents - Required shots BEFORE 7th Grade

All 6th Grade Students must get more shots before 7th Grade.

The State of Florida requires proof of immunization for all students entering 7th grade each year. This proof must be on the official State of Florida Immunization Form (DH680... the Blue Card) which is obtained from your doctor's office or the Health Department. The following immunizations must be documented on this form:

* Tetanus, Diphtheria, and acellular pertussis (Tdap) - This is the update shot that you need for 7th Grade.

* Hepatitis B vaccine series

* Varicella vaccine or the year of disease

* Two doses of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)

Please see your doctor or the Health Department for more information and to assure that your child has met these requirements. This documentation must be submitted to the school before the first day of school next year (August 10). Students will not be allowed to come to school until these shot requirements are met. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.
