Texas DHH
End of Year Musings
Can you believe it is already the middle of May! I am not quite sure where this school year went. As my kids gets older, it seems like my years pass by more quickly. Of course it is just my kids getting older, not me!
Thank you so much for all of the great things you are doing for our students. I have had opportunities to visit with many of you to provide technical assistance on a variety of issues. It is always exciting to see the great things that are happening in your schools, and I share your frustrations over the parts that aren’t going as smoothly as you would like. Hopefully you will all have the opportunity to come to the Deaf Education Administrator Leadership Conference in Fort Worth in June. We have some great learning and collaboration planned.
Upcoming Events
Have you taken time to look over the Upcoming Events section of the Admin website? http://administrators.texasdhh.net/event/upcoming
This includes some of the workshops happening at regional ESCs, as well as DHH state sponsored activities. If you want your local/regional activities to show up on the calendar, log in to the site and choose Add New Event from the editing menu on the left. There is still space in the SKI-HI Part I training in Fort Worth; SEE Skillshops in Irving, Austin, and Houston; CSW at TSD; and the DEAL Conference in Fort Worth.
DVD Library
The DVD library is continuing to grow. We are adding lesson plans to the DVDs to help guide discussions after viewing as a group. If you have interpreters who want to use the DVDs to work on their sign skills this summer, they are welcome to do so. You can handle the request yourself or designate one interpreter as the lead to reserve the DVDs. If your “lead” isn’t already in the system, let me know, and we’ll get them added. http://administrators.texasdhh.net/inventory
