More About the Student Teacher!
Hello again! Last week I promised I would send home information about my assignments so here it is! Below this will be a link to a Google Doc containing all assignments that will involve your kiddos. It is mostly just writing lesson plans and teaching, however, for my licensure I will also have to record a lesson sequence one week. Throughout the week of February 4th, I will be recording math lessons that I will be teaching. Because I will be recording these I will need permission from each of you to have the students on camera. I will be sending home video release forms with the students this weekend so be on the lookout for those. I will need these turned into me, whether you allow the students to be on video or not, by Friday, February 1st. I will link these release forms here as well in case you want to look it over or in case you need an extra.

What's Happening in Math?
In math this past week, we have been reviewing material from second quarter. Students have been working on a review packet in class and at home that goes over each topic that we covered this quarter. Along with this packet, they have also been playing some fun review games that they can continue to use at home. Ask your child to show you some of these. It is a great review to keep them up on their facts.
This week students had their CFA (Common Formative Assessment) for Geometry. Next week students will have their Math EOQ (End of Quarter) Exam.
What's Up with ELA?
As you know, we have begun our new curriculum in reading. Your child has been reading a novel for the past two weeks that falls in line with the teachings of our lessons. This week, our students received a new novel to read for the next two weeks. They have been reading from the following novels; Fudge-a-mania, Oggie Cooder, The Broken Bike Boy and the Queen of 33rd Street, and Off and Running. Each of these novels has a main character that has another person in the story that they have major differences with. By the end of the story, these characters change their opinions about each other! The students have been really excited about their novels and for the most part, do not want to stop reading!!!! This new curriculum is helping to build their love for reading. I hope that this new found relationship with books continues!!!
