Greetings Students and Families,

Literacy focus: Informative/Expository Writing
Review Write Tools strategies. Example T-charts with topic, big ideas, tell me more, and conclusion. Whole group expository practice paragraph.
Reading Challenge:
Please remind your student to bring their independent reading book and pink reading log to school every day. The reading challenge is due this Friday.
Spelling focus:
Unit #14 Consonant sounds of j and s spelled with g and c. Please help your child study the spelling words every night. Ask them to use the words in a sentence to help build fluency.
*Remember to check your child's planner every night! This nightly routine helps form good habits and fosters responsibility.
Student Council Note:
Share the Spirit Food Drive Competition
The classroom with the most cans/dried foods will get a extra P.E. time!
Seasonal Projects
I have many projects that are winter related planned for the last week of this quarter. The largest of which is the making of sugar cookies! Normally for this project I would ask parents to send in baking ingredient and tools to help with supply and demand, but with such short notice, this year I will only ask for each student to donate $2 to help absorb the cost of materials. We will be in need of 8-12 (or more) rolling pins, cookie cutters with a winter/Christmas theme and candy for decorating. All of these items will be shared with all students. I will also be in need of adult help next Monday and Tuesday afternoons. Please let me know if you can help out.
We will also be having a class Holiday Celebration on Thursday, December 18th in the afternoon. Students are welcome to bring a small & tasty treat/snack to share with the class. We will also have a gift exchange for those who would like to join in. The gift should be something a boy and girl would both like, and wrapped without a name.
