Lamesa ISD ELAR Mission
It is our mission as Lamesa ISD that every student reads at or above grade level by the end of the 3rd grade.
This school year, our teachers will begin implementing a balanced literacy approach. Balanced Literacy is a framework that provides components of instruction that will develop students’ abilities to read, write, listen, and speak effectively. The instructional plan has at its foundation the belief that all five areas of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency, are critical to students literacy growth. In addition, through the use of increasingly complex texts combined with a gradual release of responsibility from teacher to student, it is believed that students will be able to reach levels of literacy ability and achievement that support academic achievement for from PreK-12th grade.
Students learn to read by reading.
Students learn to write by writing.

Teacher Resources
Please remember that we have grade level content folders that are located in google drive that have resources available for all grade levels. Please add your resources to this drive by emailing Dawn Jones. I want for this to be a folder that contains all the resources we use throughout the year.
