Highview Happenings
November 18, 2022
From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Highview Families,
Happy Friday! We had some very special visitors on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Dudek represented the Pearl River Elks Club and hand-delivered new dictionaries to all of our third-grade students here at Highview. Our students were so excited to receive these special gifts. The Highview School community is grateful for this amazing partnership!
On Wednesday, November 23, we will host our second annual Highview Turkey Trot. I would like to thank Mr. Barron for his efforts in planning this exciting event for us. The Turkey Trot will be for Highview students and staff only. It is a great way for us to come together as a school community to work on our fitness before the upcoming holiday season. On Wednesday, please make sure your child wears sneakers and clothing appropriate for the weather.
Next week is a short one for us. On Wednesday, November 23, students will be dismissed at 12:00 p.m. Walkers will dismiss at 11:50 a.m. Breakfast will be served, but there will be no lunch served. There is no school on Thursday, November 24 and Friday, November 25 due to the Thanksgiving Recess. School will resume on Monday, November 28.
I hope you and your loved ones have a relaxing, restful weekend. Thank you for all you do to support our efforts here at Highview!
Sincerely,
Matthew Lutz
Principal

Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
Please click the link below to access our Arrival/Dismissal Procedures. It is important that we work together to follow these protocols in order to ensure an efficient, safe process for both students and staff. As a reminder, there are no U-turns permitted on Highview Avenue. If you drive your child to school and arrive after 8:45 a.m., you must park at Grace Baptist Church and walk your child to school. It is unsafe to drop off students in the crosswalk on Highview Avenue while buses are unloading. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Bus Safety
- Be a good listener.
- Use a quiet voice.
- Stay seated at all times.
Please review these rules with your child and remind them that riding the bus is a privilege, not a right. We need to work together to ensure our students experience a safe and orderly bus ride to and from school. Please note that undesirable or unsafe behavior could result in a loss of bus privileges as determined by the Principal or Assistant Principal. I sincerely appreciate your partnership!
