Foundations of Moving and Learning-Author Peter Hastie
Week 1 will focus on: This week students will:
- Identify the health, cognitive, social and/or emotional benefits of participating in physical activity.
- Outline current issues concerning motor development in children and physical education.
- Compare social and emotional constraints with current levels of physical activity.
Chapter 1: Introduction
The nature and purpose of physical education from a historical point of view. As we commence through the course we must appreciate the joy of movement as a primary motivator (Hastie, 2012).
Physical Education
Hastie (2012) highlights the shifts between the narrowing in on skill development and game play and on fitness.
Physically Educated
To be physically educated one must be willing to take in movement and physical activity as part of their personal/inner identity (Hastie, 2012).
