Update on SBAC (Smarter Balance Assessment Consortium)

The new assessments will be known as the California Measurement of Academic Performance and Progress (MAPP)

  • Testing window April 7 - May 16th
  • Juniors will test in Math(Intermediate Algebra or higher) and English


Staff Development Day

Monday, Jan. 13th, 8-11am

Olympian High School Library

Except for Math and Special Ed, everyone will first report to the library. Staff will be divided into two groups. After Staff Development, the rest of the day will be time set aside for you! Don't forget the Secretaries are hosting their second lunch fundraiser for the Secretaries Dinner after the training, cost is $6.00 per person, contact Joette or Norma. The luncheon will be held in the Faculty Dining Room starting at 11:15.

TEACHER OF THE YEAR

It's that time of the year when the Olympian community comes together to select the 2014 Teacher of the Year. Our past recipients have been - 2013 Steve Rodriguez; 2012 Julio Avasan; 2011 Valerie Separa; 2010 Lynn More; 2009 Eric Mabrey; 2008 Anna Lara; and 2007 Carrie Danielson. The protocol will be as follows:



  • Nominations will be taken by any staff member, student, or parent until 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 22.
  • Vote #1 will be held on Friday, January 24 to shrink the candidate pool to the top 3.
  • Vote # 2 will take place on Wednesday, January 29 at the Faculty Meeting.
  • Formal announcement and presentation will be held at the Rising Stars Award Night - Thursday, February 20th.
