LVMS kick starts our year with 1st Pep Rally!

What a way to start our school year. We had an incredible pep rally this past Wednesday. We have never had so much Blue and Gold around campus in my eight years here. It was amazing to see all the students who are currently participating in extracurricular activities for LVMS! We will have more involvement with Academic UIL, as well as the Spring sports. Thank you to Ms. Phillips and her cheerleaders for all their hard work putting this on. This week's SPIRIT STICK went to the 5th grade!

Counselor's Couch...

Happy Labor Day from the Counselor’s Couch! This year, I will be reaching students

in a variety of formats. All students will have monthly classroom guidance lessons

which will begin this month. In addition, I will be doing individual and group counseling, and lunch bunches. Our focus this year will be character traits, friendship, kindness, and service! The first character trait is trustworthiness, and I will be stressing this trait as the foundation for all relationships.

The LVMS Bleacher Report...

Cross Country (Coach Karg)

This is our inaugural season!!

The LVMS cross-country team was up at the crack of dawn and on a bus to Lockhart at 6:15 Saturday morning. 25 athletes competed at the Lockhart Invitational meet. The athletes raced a 1.25 mile course. Our school was one of about 50 schools in attendance, with almost 1200 runners from the varsity to middle school level. Representing our team was, Ben Carlton, Preston Coffey, Ethan Arnold, Tristan Arambula, Mallory Webb, Itza Cantera, Layne Powers, Anson Eleuterius, Rhett Kahlden, Noah Hernandez, David Rague, Aiden Panter, Colin Priddy, Esther Long, Addie Womack, TC Cagle, Katelyn Coldicott, Leah Coldicott, Schuyler Burke, Skylar Stefka, Lindsey Bell, Jade Beadles, Rileigh Oliver, Leah Joslin, and Haylee Cosgrove.

We raced with heart and determination and every athlete finished with an impressive kick at the end. Standout athletes this week include 7th grader Esther Long, 8th grader Itza Cantera, and 7th grader Layne Powers. Esther finished 9th overall and Itza right behind her in 10th place. Layne Powers was the first Lago runner across the finish line with a time of 8:19. Middle school athletes compete in one race with 7th and 8th grade boys competing against each other, and 7th and 8th grade girls competing against each other.

We will compete in Jarrell this Saturday, September 5th.

Volleyball (Coach DuBose & Coach Holt):

LV Middle School Volleyball participated in their first game against Jarrell Middle School yesterday afternoon. I am so proud of these girls for all their hard work and dedication over the past 2 weeks. Our 8th Grade B Team won their volleyball match in 3 sets with a third set score of 15-13. It was such an exciting game to see. Anyone that knows volleyball knows that there is a lot the girls have to cover in such a short amount of time. I have no doubt that these young ladies will continue to get better with each practice and each game.

The 7th and 8th grade A teams will participate next Saturday in the Robinson Tournament. Thank you for all your continued support. We love our Vikings!

First Fire Drill for the Year...

We are proud of our students and staff in their participation in the fire drill today. We appreciate our local fire officials on campus for helping review our fire safety plan. All staff and students were out in 1 minute and 40 seconds- great! Next month, our goal is to have everyone out of the building safely in 1 minute and 15 seconds.

If you haven't already done so...

All forms were due by today!!

I know that you are super excited to have more paperwork coming home to fill out, but this packet is essential for LVMS to better serve your students. Packets will be handed out this coming Monday. Also remember to go on line and update your emergency contact numbers and address through TxConnect.

In the packet you will find the following documents (just 3):
