Dressel Elementary School
Friday August 25, 2023
Dressel Families,
It was so wonderful to see all of our students back from summer break. We also welcomed many new Dressel students and families! Students have been working hard to learn the new routines in their grade levels, introduced to their new iPad, and started learning about our new mission statement and core values (see below). They had to learn really quickly how indoor recess also looks! Next week looks much better to get outside for recess! A few reminders for the upcoming week:
- Please be sure to review arrival/dismissal procedures below.
- Stay in your car dismissal
- During morning arrival, please pull down to the yellow posts.
- Drive slowly around campus and use kindness with each other
- Download the PikMyKid app. Everyone needs this.
- Continue to Expect delays in dismissal procedures and busses for the first week or two.
- Complete this form if you plan to have your student be a walker or bike rider
- The doors open for students at 8:35. Please do not drop them off any earlier.
Enjoy your weekend!
Dr. Schoenekase & Dr. Albers
Arrival & Dismissal Information
Arrival:
Doors will open at 8:35 am. Students who arrive by bus, will enter the building through the grade level wings. Students that come through the car line will enter through the playground doors. Walkers may enter through the grade level wings, main entrance, or the recess doors.
All children who are late to school after 8:45 a.m. will need to sign in at the office using the Welcome Window.
Morning Carline Drop Off:
The Dressel gates will open at 8:30 for car riders to enter and drive around the back of school. Staff will be there to greet students and direct vehicles. Please pull around to the recess doors and have your student(s) ready to exit the vehicle.
Dismissal:
Car Riders:
We ask that all caregivers download the PikMyKid app, see the information below. This app allows you to check in and adds your child's name to our list. We also have a staff member outside to assist in this checking-in process. Caregivers that pick up will enter through the parking lot's main entrance and continue through the gate to around back. The gates will open at 3:20.
If your student is a Carline pick-up student, they will wait in the gym until their name is called. Caregivers do not get out of the car. We will have staff members walk your children out and to the cars after the car line stops moving.
Walkers/Bike Riders
If your student(s) plans to walk to school or ride a bike, please complete this form. It MUST be on file for Dressel to release your student through this line. We will also ID adults who are picking students up to ensure everyone's safety. Please come prepared.
*This process is slower the first few days as our youngest students learn the routine! Buses may also run late as they continue to learn their routes. We ask that you please be patient and not call the main office. We will send out notifications in the first few days to update families when buses leave the lot.
Car Riders and walkers will be dismissed at approximately 3:35 pm.
Bus riders will be walked to the bus by staff and be dismissed around 3:45.
PikMyKid
Dressel uses the free PikMyKid platform to improve the safety and efficiency of our pick-up process. Families will need to download the PikMyKid app on their cell phones. This free app can be found in the app store and will allow you to notify the school of pick-up changes, authorize others to pick-up your child from school, alert you when your child has been picked up or sent home on the bus, as well as help organize the car line during pick-up.
The registration process is easy. If you have not done so already, we ask that all families register with the phone application as soon as possible. Please make sure you register with your personal current mobile phone number or the app will not allow you to access your child’s information for security reasons.
If you do not think the school has your mobile number on file or if your child does not appear on your app’s home page, contact support@pikmykid.com after registration, with your child’s name, school, grade, and updated contact information for you.
Anyone who will be picking up your child should also register themselves with the application. Their screen will be blank and they will not have any authorization until you allow it within the app.

Lindbergh District News
Lindbergh Speaker Series: "Navigating Infinite Campus" 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 30
Our first Speaker Series of the school year is designed to help families navigate Lindbergh’s new Student Information System, Infinite Campus. Learn how to use the most common features on your desktop computer or mobile device, and find answers to your questions from Lindbergh staff.
New Badge System Supports School Safety
Beginning this year, Lindbergh Schools is using the CrisisAlert School Safety Solution by Centegix to empower staff and keep students safe during the school day.
Here’s how it works: All employees wear a badge with a one-button system that can be used to call for help in the event of day-to-day emergencies. In the event of a school intruder, it goes one step further and allows any staff member to activate a lockdown response schoolwide. The system determines the location of the alert, down to an individual room and floor, so first responders and administrators know exactly where help is needed.
Learn more: Dr. Lake recently explained the technology to KMOV reporter Caroline Hecker. You can watch that interview at timestamp 2:13 by clicking the link below, or read more on our district website.
Make Sure You’re Receiving Our Text Messages
From time to time, our school and the Lindbergh district use SMS messaging to share information and updates with families. These messages will always come from one of two short codes, including 54968 and 60680. Families must have a current mobile phone number on file in the Infinite Campus portal in order to receive text messages from Lindbergh Schools.
