The Fine Points:

The Pirate Way

    • Please make sure you are having a conversation with your grade level regarding your 2 hour uninterrupted literacy block. All grade levels should have a common 2 hour uninterrupted literacy block.
    • The District Office is in need of Student Engagement Conference presenters, please consider doing this. You can sign up by going to
    • On Tuesday we will have some professional development from Barbara Fewell, Carman Austin and Heather Rollings relating to guided reading lesson plan templates. It is expected that teachers use these templates to plan for guided reading. Crystal and I will begin walk-through observations beginning the week of September 17th where we will be looking for guided reading lesson plans, and guided reading groupings.
    • Alarm Calls/Weekend Access to the Building: Due to the number of alarms calls and pending charges for police, if you are working after hours or on weekends please call Crystal at 803-517-9098 before entering and leaving the building.
    • Just a heads up--it is possible that the report card will look different in the very near future for grade levels who have transitioned to common core. These changes should be reflected in PowerSchool.
    • The second grade Social Studies curriculum map has not been updated to reflect the new standards. This may also be the case at other grade levels. We have been assured that these will be updated before the week is out.
    • Please remember to send t-shirt money to Ms. Janicke before 9:00 each day so that she can do a reconciliation sheet only once. This makes it easier on her and also on Glenda with bookkeeping.
    • Please make sure full names are on money brought down to the cafeteria for lunch.
    • Please check email for the Late Start Related Arts Schedule...thank you to the related arts teachers for working this out! :)
