Happy Fall Break! I hope you all have a great time enjoying the cool air and the beginning of colorful leaves. Our students at Alcova have worked extremely hard on district assessments over the last week and they deserve a high five. Thank you for sending your very best each day. We are proud of the work they are doing!

Annual AKS Review

The annual review of the Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS) curriculum is open and runs through Oct. 11. Parents, GCPS staff, students, and Gwinnett County residents may review proposed standards online, offering feedback on AKS that have been developed to align the curriculum with the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and/or Georgia Performance Standards (GPS). Feedback on this year’s AKS review may be submitted via an online AKS survey. Comments will be accepted through Monday, Oct. 11. Click here for a list of the courses with AKS under review.

Calender Options for Upcoming School Year

The county is asking parents to view and vote on calendar options for the upcoming school year. By using the link below, view and vote by 10/14/21 for the option you prefer.


All Pro Dads

Calling all Dads. Bring your students and attend our first All Pro Dads meeting October 13th at 7:00am in the cafeteria.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conference week will take place the week of October 18th - 22nd. Conferences will be through Zoom or In-Person. Teachers will make arrangements based on an agreed method. On Wednesday, October 20th, there will be another county-wide Digital Learning Day for all students and on Thursday, October 21st, K-5 students will be released at 12:15 PM, so that teachers will be available to conference with parents. Please mark these dates on your calendars and if needed, make alternate child care plans for that Wednesday and Thursday, since we will not be on normal schedules those two days.

You will be able to sign up for conferences beginning on October 6th.

Alcova Elementary School is pleased to be able to offer parents the opportunity to schedule teacher conferences online. This will allow parents to select times that are convenient, as well as coordinate multiple conference times. Please refer to the following directions to schedule your time to meet and discuss your child's progress.

1. Go to https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Alcova

2. Please select your child's class/teacher. You will be asked to enter your email address, and then you will be sent an email with a link that will allow you to register for your conference time. Click the link and choose your time.

Please note: You must have a valid email address to use this system. If you do not have access to email, please contact your child's teacher to set up your conference.

You will get email reminders before the conference.

PLEASE register as soon as possible. Signups will close Friday, October 15.

Bus Dismissal Times

Starting Monday, 9/27th, families will be able to see when afternoon buses have left our school. Please go to the Alcova Quick links section from the homepage's navigation bar, then select Afternoon Bus Dismissal. **To see real-time updates, you will need to refresh that page every few miinutes..**

All parents, please visit mypaymentsplus.com to sign off on required orientation agreements for all students. Visit our website for helpful directions on setting up an account.

A CHANGE IN Ice Cream Sales

Ice cream will be sold on Fridays. All ice cream is $1.00.

School Hours

Please remember school hours are from 8:15am -2:45pm. Students may enter at 7:45am and car riders will begin dismissal at 2:40pm. Starting this year, announcements will begin 8:10am, so that instruction may begin promptly at 8:15am. Thanks in advance for getting your children here on time ready to learn.

Car Rider Info

Just a Reminder: The Car Rider Lane will close at 8:15 am. All students arriving after 8:15, must check in at the front office with the parent. Please do not drop your child off if the doors are closed.

Message for Digital Students

If you did not pick up your supplies or in need of a computer, please come to the school Monday- Friday between 9:00-2:00 for pick up. Parents may pick up a lunch for digital students between 11:00-12:00 in the bus lane directly infront of the school.
