LITERACY

Please know that our Literacy block will be slightly altered for the next 2 weeks due to testing.

Words Their Way-

We will not have a spelling list for the next two weeks due to testing.

Reading-

Next week we will work on classifying details in our stories.

Grammar-

More review of all the third grade grammar standards.

Writing-

Finishing up our fairy tales. These will be due on Monday, May 4th.

MATH

I am changing the original date of our chapter 10 math test. It will now be on Thursday, April 30th. We will review on the 29th. This was too all of the ISTEP practicing we had this week.

SHARKS

Students have selected partners and a species of sharks to research. Each pair spent time in the computer lab looking up facts to compile into writing. They will then create paper versions of their shark to hang in the hallway with their research.

Next week your child will bring home a shark packet of all the parts and vocabulary. This is what they will need to study in order to pass the test. The test will be on Tuesday, May 12th. Students will have the opportunity to retake the test if they score below a 67%. I have no fear that this will happen as we will review and review in class. I have also attached the study guide to my Canvas page if you need to print out another.

Below is the list of parents that have volunteered to assist with the shark dissection. Please email me if you are still interested. It would be ideal to have about 5-6 more parents so we can have 2 parent per group.

Friday Behaivor Sheets

Please make sure that your child is bringing home and showing your their Weekly Classroom Report. This is the best way for communication to come home about how they are behaving in class. You and your child both need to sign the page and return it on Monday. If there is a line drawn through this section, by me, is the only reason it doesn't need to be returned. If you are not seeing these reports come home on Friday there might be a reason. Please ask you child about them.

As the last month of school is upon us students tend to get a little lazy with classroom work and behavior.

Behaviors that I am starting to see: more talking when I am talking, not following directions the first time, and drawing instead of working/writing.

Please remind them to finish up the year strong.

Rocks and Minerals

We had a great time at our "field trip" to Mr. LaPlante's room on Monday learning about rocks and minerals. Here Ben is helping our presenter demonstrate how to make concrete.
