Weekly Bulletin
September 9th-13th
A note from Kelly
Happy Friday! I had a busy week with a lot of meetings. I was happy to get in most of your classrooms later this week. Something you should know about me is that the more time I spend in meetings, the more time I want to be in your rooms and see the kids. So when I come in, I am not criticizing or even evaluating what you are doing. I understand downtime, independent work, and fun art projects. I just want to be a part of it. If I ever saw something that didn't sit well, I would tell you and I have in the past. Keep up all the awesomeness!

Something to think about
As some of you know I am writing my dissertation on Dreambox. I came across this study which was conducted recently showing meaningful achievement gains when students completed the recommended amount.
Shout out!
This week's shout out goes to kindergarten for representing at the kindergarten assessment meeting and showing a great deal of flexibility for lunches.

Announcements
Room Parent Meeting
We had a very nice room parent meeting. If you know of a room parent who did not attend but would be interested in serving as your room parent, please add it to the list. Click HERE to view the list of people who attended the meeting or followed up with me afterward.
District Climate Committee
Are you interested in serving on the district climate committee? The WCSDCC will meet quarterly to research and learn together, share resources, analyze and discuss climate data to inform our practices and endorse district initiatives that support positive school climate. We will work collaboratively to inspire a community of learners empowered to positively engage with the world through discovery, innovation, creativity, leadership, and character. I would very much like there to be a representative from Buena Vista.
Meeting Dates: September 19, November 7, January 7, March 12, and April 30
Meeting Locations: Walnut Creek School District Office
Meeting Time: 3:30-5:00PM
Hall of Fame
I am actively looking for pieces of student work which you feel are outstanding. Could be art, writing, math, pictures, etc. I would like to turn the front office bulletin board into a wall of student work. If you have any pieces of work, please put it in my mailbox. I would like at least one piece of work from each of you per month. You can keep the names on the work if the student agrees to put it on display.
Leadership Meeting Representative
I am looking for a representative from our special programs for the Leadership team. This can be a special education teacher, an intervention teacher or a specialist. Please let me know if you are interested in attending the leadership meetings. We want your voice!
Reading levels
If you have a student new to your class, please enter their reading levels in Illuminate.
