The building pad is completed, and the good weather we have experienced has allowed the contractors to work without interruption! In the coming weeks, we will start to see short walls being erected and structural steel will begin to be put in place. Stay tuned for pictures in January!
November 2019 Update
Please know that as our construction work progresses we are monitoring the air quality at the SRMS. We have not found any issues that could jeopardize students, staff, or our neighbors.

Despite the industrial fans running throughout the lower level of SRMS, we are in good shape. Given that we experienced flooding, we are in the process of setting up air-quality tests following all the clean up to ensure the environment is good for students and staff!
Rain Rain Go Away!
The rain that we had last evening caused flooding in the first floor of SRMS. Fear not! Our custodial, maintenance, and grounds staff did an amazing job with initiating the clean-up, and ServPro was onsite to ensure the water was taken care of. Perhaps one of these days (hopefully soon!) we will once again experience some sunshine and no rain!
Making Middle School Memories: Ensuring a Quality Middle Level Experience !
As previously shared in communication from our Board of School Directors, moving forward students' curricular experiences will not change as a result of the Consent Decree. This includes assemblies, field trips, and other fun events. Great care is being taken to host these special events in areas of the school (and in other locations) that are accessible for all students!
Additionally, the District is working with counsel to provide an outdoor option for students during construction, specifically for break time after lunch. The District believes we have found space outdoors, in addition to the patio, that can be accessed by all students. We hope to share some updates soon. We plan to provide meaningful access to all students.
Finally, if you have not already viewed it, we have created a document that shows the locations for sports practices and games for SY 2019-2020. With virtually the entirety of the SRMS under construction, alternate locations have been identified for sports practices and games.
Preparations Continue for the Installation of Modulars
There have also been some revisions to the interior of the main building. In the main hallways, just outside the office, an ADA compliant restroom has been added. Painted in #CardinalPride red, this restroom will provide students and staff with special needs access to an ADA compliant restroom. Also throughout the building, ADA compliant doors have been added to several classrooms to ensure that students and staff with mobility challenges can safely navigate through these spaces.
And We're Off
