HUSKY UPDATE

It was another amazing week to be a Homestead Husky with a bonus SNOW DAY!

Next week is also a short week with an asynchronous day on Tuesday 11/8 and an in-service day on Friday 11/11. Students will be sent home with paper packets on Monday to complete at home during the day on Tuesday.

We are in the thick of flu and cold season, so please remember to keep your student home if they are ill.

The Fall Carnival was a HUGE success thanks to the PTO and all the volunteers who made the night possible. A very special shout out goes to Jenny Booher who orchestrated and organized every detail of the carnival. We are blessed to have such an amazing parents and PTO here at Homestead.

On Monday, the final spirit day for Red Ribbon Week, Huskies scared away drugs by dressing up in their Halloween costumes.

Get those permission slips in! Mrs. Lenoir and Ms. Branda have been busy prepping and have the coolest crafts in the works! Craft Club starts next Wednesday 11/9.

Basketball club kicked off this week thanks to Coach Payne and Mr. Noyes. There is still time to join, so get those permission slips in and get ready to hoop out!

Coach Payne brought the pain to PE this week with Payne's Pumpkin Patch. Classes were divided into four groups and the team that was able to collect the most pumpkins from the patch won. Payne's Pumpkin Patch week is a favorite at Homestead.

SLC is sponsoring the 2nd annual Food Fight again this year, so get those cans ready. Fire Lake won last year and we have high hopes to win the coveted trophy in 2022. Ravenwood, Fire Lake, Chugiak, and Birchwood are all competing this year. Donations from all five participating schools will help fill the Chugiak/Eagle River Food Pantry this holiday season. Each school has nine school days to collect as many cans as possible. Donations are picked up and weighed by volunteers at the food pantry. The school who collects the most food by weight will be the winner of this year's Food Fight!

Ravenwood - October 31st - November 10th

Fire Lake - November 7th - November 18th

Chugiak and Birchwood - November 21st - December 5th

Homestead - December 5th - December 15th
