Te Whare Akoranga o Maungawhau, October 27, 2022
From The Principal
Kia ora koutou
This week has had a positive, celebratory feel as we welcome Diwali, and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all families celebrating the festival happiness and prosperity ahead!
It probably hasn't escaped your attention that the Halloween Disco is also ready to go tomorrow, heralded by mounting excitement from the children!
No doubt it is going to be as fun and memorable as ever, and I'd like to pass on my thanks in advance to the PTA and helpers who have been hard at work organising this event.
A reminder that with the school calendar up to full speed and the busy final term underway, it's important to keep an eye on our key dates for the term, read the weekly newsletter reminders and also access the calendar on our website if in any doubt.
On the sports front, it's been exciting to see Athletics underway this week on the school field, which has also been complimented by the installation of brand new basketball posts on the lower court. As we don't receive government funding for this kind of equipment, it's a timely reminder of the important fundraising work our PTA do in support of the school, so please familiarise yourself with the Key Fair information to be found in the PTA news items included below.
Wishing everyone a spooky Halloween, and a great weekend ahead!

Not interested in a wristband - no problem!
We have lots of other fun activities available that you’ll know & love from previous years - plus second hand goods & food, drinks & ice blocks.
Cash only activities include:
Many thanks to the awesome parents and caregivers that have put their hand up to help with stalls at the upcoming fair.
We still need help with few specific roles to help with stalls on the day and in the lead up to the event on November 13th.
Help running the fun activities
- Jousting bouncy castle coordinator
A new inflatable that will definitely prove popular. You will only need to manage the queue at the entrance. You will have several helpers during the day to help manage the queue and time the participants.
- Face Painters
Our coordinator needs your help. Are you artistically talented and/or have some experience painting? All paint and equipment provided. Have fun transforming kids into pirates and butterflies!
Face painters sign up in 1 hour shifts so you will also be able to enjoy the fair with your family on the day.
- Samosas stall coordinator
We have ordered the samosas and need someone to help coordinate this stall. We have lots of info about how this has been run in the past and just require a main point of contact for this popular food stall.

Support our school by eating a delicious Roast at The Bridgman.
Seems too easy but $10 of every kids meal goes directly to our school funds. All you need to do is book your table and put MENPS into the ‘requests’ box and they will donate the profits of your kids meals back to the school.
Easy right?
Just book here - The Bridgman | Corner of Dominion & Valley Roads | Carefully curated food, drinks & cocktails.
The Bridgman are also generously running a food stall at the upcoming Food & Fun Fair.
Come join us for a summer of fun!
We are needing more junior players aged 10 and younger to join our teams playing tee ball.
Tee-ball is an introduction to softball, played on Saturday mornings at Fowlds Park in Western Springs.
It's a fun time had by all, learning ball skills and making friendships.
We welcome you to join us.
