Gator Bite Bulletin
Gator Family,
It has only been two school days without your children here at the Swamp and we already miss you all terribly! These are unusual times we are immersed in, and though we are not together as usual, please know that our students are very close in our hearts as we all find our way through this.
Most of you have likely already read the emails and updates from Dr. McCord related to our school closures, but I wanted to again share the link which leads to our most current information. Anytime something is sent out, it will go via email with an accompanying text alert, and the same exact information will be found at gilbertschools.net/alerts. This may be helpful as sometimes various email service providers will interpret our messages as spam, and in that case the website will be your go-to resource.
On this page is also a link to some resources for student enrichment. The language provided by Dr. McCord is the following:
Enrichment Resources
During the statewide school closure, we will provide a wide range of free enrichment learning resources for all grade levels, accessible through our district website, as of Tuesday, March 17. As you will see, this is an extensive list of student-directed resources that are grouped by grade band and content area for parent and student reference. Please note these are activities and materials for students and parents to support ongoing learning during the current school closures and are not intended to replace curriculum or teacher-directed learning. Furthermore, completion of any of these activities is not required and will not count towards any credits or grades.
After this afternoon, the building will be officially closed off to all but myself and our custodial staff who will be doing deep clean of the building and grounds. Moving forward, please look to the GPS communications for updated information as the climate surrounding our school closures has been continuously evolving. Please squeeze your Gators tight for us, and take care of yourselves and each other until we see you all again.
Sincerely,
Mary Longnion
Principal
