Code Marathon

Students are divided into teams of four members. One is Athenian soldier standing on the hill of Marathon, one is Pheidippides ,the first marathon runner, one is a Spartan soldier, and one is an Athenian woman. The Athenian soldier is 10 meters away from the Spartan soldier and 20 meters the Athenian woman(symbolic Pheidippides ran 40 km). Each student has the coded English alphabet. The Athenian soldier first writes a coded message for the Spartan soldier( the messages are distributed by the teacher), Pheidippides runs and delivers the message to the Spartan soldier who answers with a coded message and Pheidippides runs back with the answer. Now the Athenian soldier decodes the answer and writes another coded message for the Athenian woman and Pheidippides runs and delivers the message. Once the Athenian woman decodes the message the marathon is finished.

Pheidippides has to shout WE WON and fall on the ground (symbolic Pheidippides after telling the Athenians that they had won he died).

The teams get 1 point for finishing first and 1 point for each decoded message.
